I see your point of view. I'm in a similar industry, we design and manufacture motorsport/military transmissions etc.... All in house, and I'm the head of the engineering team (I'm a mech eng)
So while hand building things is a craft (a dying one sadly), similarly, there's so much more to design and engineering than just CAD as well.
It's the long and the short way of saying, while a lot the car is a BMW parts bin, the car wouldn't exist if not for both Toyota and BMW, so we'll be able to debate how much of either lives in its DNA for some time.... There will never be a straight answer haha
