The only fondness I had until post late 2000's for BMW was an e36 M3. The only issue I have with them now is that by the time I spec the cars how I want them, they no longer make sense to purchase as at 100k there are other choices more desired.

Agree plus theyā€™re much bigger than they were in the 2000ā€™s. The new M3 is huge and heavy. You might as well paint some oars on the side of it.

I am not a BMW fan, and really not a Toyota fan either. I've never been a fan of the Supra, In the 90's i loved the FD RX7. I like whatever car I like at the time. I was shopping for a Camaro when I bought my Mustang, a Mercedes when I bought my ST. I sold my Mustang and ordered a C8. Back when i had my FRS and seen the FT1 concept i was a hater that it was BMW. I always thought the 1LE was better than a M car and all.

IDK when but at some point, i stopped caring about all out performance and started liking luxury. I saw the Supra I ending up buying by sending the ad to a friend that had a 1LE that loved the Supra. can't count how many messages I sent him clowning that he liked Supras. But I couldn't stop staring at the Supra in that ad, messaged him and flew from Vegas to Houston and drove it home with my son... I went through a car every 2-3 years and always looking at what possibly is the next, until the Supra. its hands down the best car I've ever owned. (I still kinda look, I'd love an AMG GTc next) But this I can actually say I'll be keeping for a while.

So for me no, not a BMW lover, and never a Supra or Toyota fan..

One of the most rational posts on any auto forum I visit. Well said. Keep enjoying what you drive. It is you behind the wheel and no others, at all times. Drive safe, keep that smile. Great post.
To begin, I'm 60 years old and have wanted a Supra since it's inception but could never afford one.
I settled for an '87 Corolla FX16 and since that car have been a Toyota fanatic.
Finally retirement has treated me well enough to purchase my '21 3.0 premium.
Everyone's comments about this car being a perfect street/track car are dead pn. Price is amazing for what this car gives you.
OK, it's a BMW motor. But it is just as legit as the Toyota 2JZ motor.
I'm not worried, I purchased the 10 year warranty. šŸ˜†šŸ˜†šŸ˜†šŸ˜†

I have had 4 BMW's between my wife and I - 420d, 320ED, M2, X3 M40d. So possibly I like BMW's. The Supra was bought with the heart as much as the head. I can't deny having the B58 in it with the ZF box was helpful but I just really started to get into the look of the thing. Then it was a slippery slope watching YouTube videos and doing man maths. The finance deal in the UK was ridiculous and as these things are as rare as rocking horse poo it was a no-brainer.

Best bits of owning this car is pretty much universally people love it when they see it. Never had some many conversations in car parks, fuelling it etc about what it is like to drive.

When you see young kids stop dead in their tracks and grab their parents hand and point at it - we might be going electric one day but I like to think there are still going to be petrol heads out there because they remember that cool car. I know I wanted a Ford Escort Cosworth when I was a kid when I first clapped my eyes on one. I never could afford one but I did buy a Mk3 Focus RS eventually.

To answer the question I absolutely love my Supra and I don't care about the badge or what people think either way!

am 27, owned a 97 bmw 740i as my first car, but I also like mercedes. I had a 16 brz that I loved and still miss, I'm familiar with bmw weirdness and thats why the supra has a warranty and I'm selling it before any major warranties expire. I was shopping for a new sports car and required adaptive cruise. The supra punches out of its weight class in a slot of stats and trackability, but I was also considering like M2/comp/cs as the second picks. The supra was the natural evolution from the brz though, and I want to rent one of the gr86s sometime and try it on track. I would have bought the supra regardless the collab company, I kinda trust toyota to make a decent sports car even in this day and age (mk4 is cool, all other supra gens and really any car ~90 and older is boring af to me). Love the supra as a daily driver sports car, exactly what I wanted, I can't fathom daily driving something like my buddies tow vehicles (bigass trucks) or something like a passenger sedan, supra is so great at daily driving fun, and I can have a lot of fun at track (expensive tho)

Car was a total impulse buy. I wanted a new car for a drag build, and figured this one would be fine.
Mine was the same. I went to a local Toyota dealership to buy a Highlander and a Tacoma, and walked away with a Highlander, a Tacoma, and a Supra. I had kind of been shopping for the "right" fun car for a couple of years, but didn't anticipate I would find it at a Toyota dealership.

First car was a tesla model 3 LR, bought it cause I thought I was being smart by having a go fast pedal that I could stomp all the time without having to pay for gas. Realized after a few months I was bored of it already, and was looking for a relatively fast car that I could still daily, snap necks, mod friendly, decent gas mileage, reliable... Well this car ticked all those boxes, plus the MKIV was one of my favorite cars as a kid. Test drove it once and have loved driving it ever since.

I have a BMW M4CS and just overall enjoy BMW engineering. The Supra is basically like driving an M2 from what Iā€™ve been told, so looking forward to my 2023 M/T Stratosphere Blue coming in next month. Will be a great companion to my M4ā€¦!

Iā€™m going to address the elephant in the room. The MKIV Supra is living off nostalgia. Until you drive both you canā€™t understand that the MKV is the better car. Technology, comfort and build quality are light years apart. Hence why it takes 300hp more for a MKIV to run the same 1/4 mileā€¦ turbo lag, old tech. Before buying the MKV I was considering a MKIV, after a driving several of both the MKV was the only choice. The MKIV was a great car that sold terribly in the 90s. Now the people that couldnā€™t afford them then can now and want to live that piece they missed out on which is driving demand for a car Toyota even discounted 1/3 of the price on at the end of its life cycle and still couldnā€™t sell them. Is it a legend, of course. Iā€™m sure the MKV will be the same way in 25 years as well. Those that missed out on them today will want them tomorrow when they rewind time and realize just how great the car they decided to dislike was really a legend of its time.

Iā€™ve wanted a ā€˜vette and a 911 since grade school, but was always too practical to do anything about it. Iā€™ve had a GTI, GLI, WRX, Speed3, and Focus ST because they were fun and practical. By r the time I decided to get less practical, they stopped making a manual ā€˜vette and I realized that I wouldnā€™t be comfortable driving a Porsche (I know I shouldnā€™t care about image. but thatā€™s just me.). Enter the ā€˜23 Supra manual. Itā€™s a perfect fit. After all, itā€™s ā€œonlyā€ a Toyota.
