Built-in NAV simultaneously with CarPlay NAV no longer working on iOS18

Whenever I went somewhere, I would put the address on Google Maps (via CarPlay) and also on the built-in NAV. That way I would get directions on my HUD and also on the infotainment from Google Maps. Since updating to iOS 18, it only lets me do one or the other.

Kinda bummed about this, anyone know if there's a setting or something I could change?

After researching, it seems like you were never supposed to be able to use both at the same time.

Asked on Reddit too and people claimed it never worked on iOS16 or iOS17
