I’m considering a set of carbon fiber hood vents to complement the oem carbon mirrors. Not wanting to go carbon fiber crazy!

I know there are carbon fiber replacement vents with the mesh but ... I’m not sure I want to see the internal hood bracing in silver (could paint the inset) or water inside the hood.

I also noted an overlay carbon fiber vent cover. See photos. Question is... do these stick up above the hood itself when installed. Still hoping for a flush look when in place.

I’d love to have a set of the full replacement carbon fiber vents without the opening or mesh.

Thoughts?

I think that is the one on my car. Does not stick up beyond the hood like a submarine periscope which would suck.

When you install, be sure to painters tape the surrounding paint because you will be using a strong surface cleaner and be pushing down on the CF piece which can potentially blemish your surrounding paint.

~ Can you share some photos? Thanks!
I think this is the worst angle for this piece so that you can decide whether the stack is too high or not.

For me it’s fine. But I will say I need reading glasses to see anything up close.. wait what am I typing(?)

~ Do you think the carbon fiber vent now makes the vent look larger in person than in the standard oem plastic one.

Not at all, the CF is very thin. It's a clean piece. I like it.

Where does the water, pine needles and dirt go for these versions? Is it just a drain trap for future rust or rot?
~ That’s my concern as well with the mesh or exposed ones with the opening.

However... I do get that some owners then feel they have a functioning so called vent versus a faux vent.

I bought the mesh versions, but sprayed the inside of the opening with black Plastidip first as I didn’t like the look of the blue through the mesh. Easy to do, came out great.
