Hey guys....
So I installed a Borla exhaust on the Supra about 500 miles ago..
About 300 of those at the race track (road coarse)...

I was cleaning the car up today and noticed the carbon fiber tips on the exhaust are brown....it looks burnt...even the Borla logo which is white and red is brown...

The metal spacer that attaches to the actual exhaust pipe and holds the carbon fiber away from the pipe is a bronze color( suppose to be black)...

Obviously this is a heat related issue...just wondering if this is normal?

Not at all happy with the way this looks after 500 miles...

Thanks for any thoughts...
Steve

That really sucks. Maybe they can hook you up with standard stainless tips.

@puzzled
Yeah... but I actually bought this exhaust because it had black tips...
Everything about my car is black so in my eye silver of any color just doesn't look right...

I may just find some black slip on tips and tear the Borla tips off...

Gonna wait and see if Borla customer service responses to my email...

I see.. my Supra is black too so I can understand. In my case since I'm still running stock exhaust, I suppose I can do the IND black tips.

Or just engine enamel it black. I did this on my Golf-R's Borla.

Did they give you new tips? I just got a used Borla exhaust with the tips slightly turning brown. Wonder if there is a fix or we can get stainless steel tips.

I've been using prepreg carbon fibre heat shields on motorcycle exhausts for many years. They all eventually go like this. The heat effects the resin. Not much can be done about it apart from insulating the back of the carbon piece if thats possible.
