I bought a civic type r from them with 4k miles on it when dealerships were selling them for 42-45k new. I paid like 37k otd which was a steal. This was back in 2019 before the used car market went crazy. I did a trade in value for my Supra (20 with 12k miles), and they only offered 48k, which seems low for todays market. I know others have had good luck in that aspect. I will say, the car was extremely clean. Since I got such a good deal on it, I drove it for 6 months and sold it for what I paid for it.
Thats because Carvana is flooded with Supra's right now. For example, I was looking at F82 M4's, and there are about 8-10 available that weren't sold. At the same time, there were about 70 Supra's on Carvana that weren't sold.

Has anyone bought a car from Carvana? It seems like every car I have looked at on there in the last 6 months have scratches or chips in the paint that go through the clear coat or there is upholstery damage. And yet they are asking full price. I have read many bad reviews. Why would anyone buy a car for 53k+ and not test drive it? And you only get 7 days to return it?
I have, bought my car (2019 honda insight touring) from Carvana August last year. The car had 17k miles on it and it looked great, they waxed the hell out of it though. I remember finding clumped up wax in the nook and crannies of the exterior of the car. I kept it for a year then I traded it in for my 21 3.0 premium at the dealership. One thing I didn't like at all was that, they kept me on temporary tags the whole time I owned it. Dealership took care of that for me hence I was still able to trade it in. I also heard horror stories about that 7 day policy that they have (like them dragging the process past the 7 day period and denying the request) to some other things like "losing" mailed in money orders down payments. I suggest checking out their subreddit.

I had a buddy who went through a similar horror story, but it was with Vroom. He received the car, and it started acting up within his 7 day window. They basically claimed it was from him not properly driving the car?

About a month later, and a lawyer involved, he was able to get his money back.

I have bought a few Priuses from Carmax. I wouldn’t buy a Supra through Carmax or Carvana or any Auto Nation dealer. I think the ā€œhassle-free priceā€ is BS. I’ve read that when buying that way you actually pay more.
Well a lot of Carmax's crap is that they get people into a car they cannot afford with a horrible long-term 9.6%+ APR loan. Does Carvana also do this?

I will admit I've been looking at 718 GT4's online there and wondering...

I purchased mine from Carvana. Only had 310 miles on it and they had me pick it up because they were afraid that the transport truck would damage it.
However you definitely need to refinance you loan their interest rates are a bit high.

I sold my last car to carvana and would recommend against buying from. Or at least not buying performance cars from them. They didn't even look over the car I sold them. Literally looked at the mileage and said the car was good to go.

I bought a prius prime from carvana and the front right bumper was resprayed poorly and full of filler. Bought i3 from them and the windshield had a big crack, which they did get replaced pretty quickly (thru safelite, with BMW glass). They cycled through 3 states worth of temp tags on the i3 before getting my title and registration sorted out.

Carvana is nice idea in theory but I would not buy from them again. Maybe it was better before covid, idk.

OTOH I traded in a 16 mx5 that had quite a bit of hail damage, creaky aftermarket swaybars, clutch master cylinder with a binding problem, some interior styrofoam cracked. Then I traded in a 15 challenger with multiple electrical issues (lights, blower control, alternator whine) and a bad wheel bearing. They gave me great price on both and did not take anything off trade value despite the issues mentioned (disclosed on sell form). To be fair, none of those issues will keep a car from looking good on their low-rez web photos.

I bought my ā€˜20 off Carvana. They said never been in an accident but had holes on the bumper where a front lip was drilled in and the front bumper was partially being held on by Velcro (found out later this is from the factory) and had been repainted on one side only. (PPF was removed on one side only, cracks in the black grilles on the bumper). Since the bumper had been removed they disconnected the radar and now cruise control doesn’t work as it needs to be re-calibrated. They ARE covering everything being fixed. When you get it make sure you get it on a lift and make sure everything is good to go within the first 7 days

Depends on the comparable cars. Your assessment is without grounds, just because you feel that or read it does not hold true. Market pricing for particular cars is a very real thing.

highest I ever got offered on my Launch was 55k through Vroom. But that was just once, it was significantly lower after a few inquiries

then drive that bih and enjoy it. stop looking at markets
If he lives in Michigan like the location has, then he can't really drive it right now lol. Its been constant single digit temperatures and snow storms.

All we can do it look at our cars and look at the markets.
