I went to the Seattle show today to see if I could find a higher up insider to have a private chat. Well I ended up talking with a couple of girls from the corporate who were much more than just pretty faces! They were very well knowlegable about FT1 to my surprise and they went on to say that they could assure me there won't be an FT1, anytime. There will be a sport car joint venture developed by BMW and Toyota, but it will look nothing like FT1. They noted several features on FT1 that would not pass DOT, as well as sheet metal parts that would not be feasible to fabricate.

They said the joint venture car will take three years to hit the market. But it'll be different.

I told them there are already several new designs that have thaken their queues from FT1, and they said they know, but that didn't mean FT1 will be introduced as presented in the concept. I asked why they went to the extent of doing two concept cars, they said they wanted to exercise the two variation, sport (red) with light weight Carbon interior and a luxury (silver) with the high end interior.

I told them point blank that I'm holding off buying a sport car if FT1 or similar is coming out, they said go ahead and buy whatever you want because anything coming will be at least three years away!

Talked to a Porsche rep and trying to see if there's a chance of a GT4, but I think it's unlikely one would be available at msrp. But I'm giving them a chance to see what they can do.

I guess no point ordering any sport cars with winter coming. I'll most likely wait until January Detroit show to see if any news of mid engine C8 Zora, and November here soon we will have the Tokyo show too and if I don't hear anything else about FT1 or C8, I'll pull the plug and start growing my porn-star mustache and buy the best performing car out there for the money which I reported in another post impressing the hell out of me with its track capabilities! I never thought I'd ever see that day, but it's closer that I thought! Mustache and gold chains, here I come....! Just need to gain weight and grew bald!

Wow! Doesn't seem like they'd make that up... but it seems like a pretty brash assumption. 3 years though is believable at this point.

Don't get a vette! Push harder at more dealers for a Cayman GT4. On Cars.com there are several listed, some apparently without markup, but it's hard to tell the options on each car. Also BMW officially unveils M2 tonight.

If Chevy does make a mid-engine car, they're going to milk it for six figures. It should definitely be a performer though.

I checked out cars.com. Prices are almost in the GT3 territory with another $15K. Or maybe a low mileage Mezger engine GT3.

Dealer said they their manager has one and wants to sell it in six months. And it already has two people's deposits on it!!! Asked me if I want to be the third person in line! Lol, I don't think so....for a used car! Damn speculators....!

I wish the logistics of having an open wheel single seater Formula Mazda was feasible for me. Best track toy ever...

I even told the gals at Toyota booth that what they told me is going right to Internet and they said that'd be fine. So I'm not holding my breath and now it kind of makes sense why there are no words on a production FT1 from Toyota....because there won't be one. I'm still hoping for something from Tokyo show...

As much as I resented the Vette image all along, I'm trying to be more open minded, considering how capable of a car it is. Even the look has leaped miles forward. If you didn't know what it was, it could pass for a Ferrari of the past few years.

I don't drive much anyway. Most of the miles I put on my car are during track events. My daily driver is the metro bus! And on Friday/Saturday night I only go places where I can walk to from my place. So the image thing shouldn't matter since I could be seen driving one only at the track.

With the economy improving, more and more people with money are flocking to the track with capable cars. Many of them are gradually learning how to drive. It's becoming more difficult being competitive in the Advance Group with an under-dog. If I could trailer it, I'd certainly go the open wheel way. Other than that, there is nothing else on the market for less than $80K.

We will see...

Here's one on cars.com for supposedly MSRP. http://www.cars.com/vehicledetail/detail/650545807/overview/ Not exactly in Seattle, though.... ;) West coast prices seem to be pretty murderous. Even stripped they're $85k, which is a ton of money for what is still a Cayman.

All kidding aside, a C7 would be a great car, and for the money is really unbeatable if you don't go nuts on the options. Looks like discounts are in the 6k+ range, and the performance is very compelling in the ~$50s.

A little more appealing I think is the GT350R, but you have to find one, and it's more money. The base GT350 has the same motor though for less money.

Actually that's not bad, other than being in NJ. They are $85K base...

One of the local dealers is willing to honor Kerbeck type discounts of about $5.5-$6K for a Z51. I wouldn't go crazy as all I'd want is the Z51 1LT with Mag Select Ride, possibly Z06 splitter (plus after market rear spoiler).

If I feel like splurging, I might go for the clear dark roof. Maybe black paint with black wheels (+ big ass carbon wing), tinted windows/headlight and a license plate: "LUCI4"...lol j/k. This would be approx $60K plus rear spoiler. I wouldn't feel guilty at all for beating up on it either...

Just holding my breath now for the Tokyo show...from what I've learned an affordable base C8 may be a few years from now.

Not too keen on tall cars like Mustangs. Last time at the track a young handsome fellow who at first didn't think much of my silly little car in his brand new GT Shelby (claiming track experience at many tracks around the country) got lapped by my silly car in a 20 minute session. Possibly the driver though...

Well that was interesting! I contacted the NJ Porsche dealer about the GT4 to see if the ad was real. They said that car was pre-ordered for a client and it was sold. They didn't know why it was still on the web site. I asked them if it was pre-sold, why was it there in the first place? Got a confusing response that because it was and showed up in their inventory list and went from one web site to another.

He had a used 2015 GT3 he had that he was offering me at $179...but flexible on price! Lol too many rich idiots roaming this earth at the moment. I'd say add another few grands and order an RS at that price.

Damn, not a real car. Wonder how many other of the listings are also like that.

Too bad the RS is trading at $250-$300 right now.

The new one is a little more low-slung ;)

I remember passing up Ferraris in my Civic Si at the track. Granted they were 308s and 328s... :D

Haha...Ferraris and Lambos don't even count! Every time I see a guy driving a Ferrari or a Lambo around in public, the first thing that comes to mind is that he can't drive worth a damn. There's only one rich young guy at the track who's not afraid of pushing his Ferrari Italia and its because he's been coming to the track long enough. All other exotic car drivers are too afraid to push and also their cars aren't set up for track to corner. Perfectly plumb wheels! Lol too worried to modify the factory settings!

I give the guys in Mustangs more credit than the guys in Ferraris and Lambos.

The guys doing circles around me are the Porsche Cup cars, Stock cars or open wheel single seaters. And occasionally a couple of GT3RS's. Last time I tried to keep a stock car and a GT3 behind, I ran out of pavement in a high speed off camber sweeper, and went into high speed orbit! It was like two guys were shoveling dirt at me through each window! Luckily my service manager owed me an interior/exterior detailing job. But I had to remove all the twigs and sticks from the interior first! Lol

Btw, there's a user named x73 on Bring a Trailer where he posted in the current Supra TT auction that he's seen and sat in the new Supra, seems like in a focus group. I didn't know if I should link that page on here so just a fyi.

I just went on Bring a trailer and found this x73 guy. Heres what he said: "I have seen the new Supra in person, even got to sit in it and compare it to a few other current sports cars. It is the real deal and I think it will be a good reason for gear heads to visit a Toyota dealer again. I had a couple of Supras back when they were new and the newest model has just as good a vibe . I guess the acid test will be when you can drive one and compare it to the competition directly, but it looks fast just sitting there."

I can confirm that the car was indeed put into small focus groups and was shown with an RC350, Cayman S, Audi TT, M2, etc. Supposedly it had one of the nicest interiors compared to the others in the group.

Btw, Mr. x73 signed an NDA, so he should be more careful lol.

If that's all he said, then I'm pretty sure he's good lol. Would be another thing if he went into detail about, motor, trans, styling cues, ect...
Regardless, this is good news to hear about the car. Why cant I ever get chosen for one of these damn focus groups
