All,

before I get roasted here, I’d appreciate it if you can just hear me out and provide some constructive conversation that would greatly help me.
To start , I’m a bit of a hypochondriac and a massive over thinker.
When I purchased my Supra I added a carbon fiber front lip. A little over a year ago I took my car to the dealership for service. One of the service reps hit a cement parking block and essentially destroyed the underneath of the lip. You couldn’t see the damage from above so I decided not to replace it.

fast forward to today. Over the past few months I’ve experienced a little throat irritation here and there. Could be anything But being the hypochondriac I am, I am worried that somehow, as I’m driving at higher speeds, carbon fiber dust/particles are making its way into the car via either the windows or AC. I know it sounds ridiculous so please take it easy on me as I’m essentially driving myself insane. Looking for a bit of mental clarity so I turn to my fellow Supra owners who may be a bit more knowledgeable in the automotive related field. I have experienced zero itchy skin or irritation of the eyes. Just the occasional throat issue. Do you believe I have any reason for concern or am I completely overthinking this? Any detail you could provide to support your thoughts would be appreciated

What the fuck is this story?
I understand to the majority, this is insane. I get it. To a hypochondriac, this is daily life and believe me it sucks. It’s no way to live. But unfortunately this is how it goes. In fact the more I get roasted over this the more I feel like I’m coming to my senses. ?

this was in Bethesda MD

I told them I would only trust my mechanic to fix it. So they paid for the part and the labor. But I didn’t ever get it replaced since it was just underneath the front lip and wasn’t visible. In hindsight it was a bad decision on my part.

Never visit California.

The California Prop 65 signs on every store and product will give you a mental break down.

And yes, you are over thinking. If you wanted to, you could just get some epoxy and seal the broken edges of your lip and call it a day. Make sure to wear 5 N95 masks on top of each other and 2 hazmat suits and double up on the condoms. This way none of the particles get on you. Or in you.

Why haven’t you guys let OP know he’s inhaled a few shards of carbon fiber by now? OP get a carbon toxicity screen ASAP. /s

Seriously though you probably inhaled more damaging items around your household than a damaged CF front lip.

I can’t tell if you’re being serious or sarcastic about getting a carbon toxicity screen

OP - what you described is about as damaging as accidentally swallowing an insect while riding your bicycle.

I thought the question was more in line with your CF aborbing moisture from the damaged area that can eventually spread to other parts of the CF causing clouding and premature breakage.. If you're a car guy, that is what you would be more worried about, not your throat. :dunno:

My concern is really my health as well as my wife’s health. This is far more important to me than my car. Just looking for some educated opinions on if I need to worry about it or not. Seems like you believe I do not need to worry. I appreciate the response. It really does help

You don't have an issue health wise or every enterprise selling carbon fibre cloth products would have employees dying like flies.
I've been using CF cloth for making parts and doing repairs for years, cough, cough, and I'm fine, cough, cough. Seriously, you have no worries.
