I want to share information for those who want to increase brightness of dash during the day time.

For the long time there was information that it is controlled by parameter DIM_VARIANT in 3005 DISPLAY_PIP_CONFIG section of NBT_EVO module. But in my 2020 Supra I never was able to make it work. With all versions of Bimmercode, change of DIM_VARIANT parameter did not make any difference and display was getting too dim during daytime.

Recently I found a different instruction, it was related for BMW X3M model, but I decided to try it in my Supra and it DID WORK. The change needs to be done in DIM_CURVE_X2 parameter: change value from "0x1F 0xC0" to "0x00 0x00". Now display stays fully bright until car switches to night mode.

Forgive my ignorance on this topic but, Can you do different coding for different BMW models and still retain all the different settings you tweak? I’ve done all my bimmercode settings under BMW Z4. That’d be cool if you can because I don’t want to lose those settings by switching the coding to a X3M.

Z4 and Supra are very similar and use the same modules. So most coding is the same if you only change variables present in both models.

My comment was about specific parameter, which is present in Supra head unit (and apparently in other other cars with NBT_EVO). You should code it using Supra car type in Bimmercode.

Just confirming for my own sanity, that is the cluster itself and not the regular radio screen right?

So, the 3005 DISPLAY_PIP_CONFIG > Dim_Variant > Old configuration is for the Z4 module while the DIM_CURVE_X2 > 0x1F 0xC0 > 0x00 0x00 is for the Supra module?

In my Supra case Dim_Variant did not do anything. DIM_CURVE_X2 did the job.

Does anyone notice this decreases the orange light brightness of the climate/radio/main console buttons?
