Nothing is worth buying over MSRP, that's just cope.

I'm old, so I don't know what "cope" means in this context.

Similar threads exist in certain Swiss watch forums. The "S" in MSRP means "suggested". Dealers can charge whatever they want, up or down. It's up to us as consumers to decide what it's worth to us, me, you, personally.

Some folks go with the YOLO argument, others say "life is too short" and some people (not us) just don't care. And then there are the impatient ones, and those who must have the latest and greatest now and don't want to wait.

Around here, dealers (all marques) are greedy, the economy is strong, and it's difficult to negotiate on prices, new and used. I travel out of state to buy many of my cars, but some people don't know that they can do that, or don't want to/can't travel, etc. so I suppose for some, it's unavoidable.

Here is how my purchase went down. I called the dealership to inquire about a red Supra they had listed. I didn't want red but figured I'd wrap it or something.

Dealer: "We don't have a red 2021 Supra. We have a 2021 Absolute White Premium."
Me: "Oh shit - that's the color I prefer. How much is it?"
Dealer: "$56,540" (56 something...not sure about the rest)
me: "Damn, I'm sitting at 52k."
Dealer: " It has tint and [this other stuff], so I can't do 52k."
me: " I have a local dealership that has a black Supra for 52. I couldn't care less about the tint and [other stuff]. I'm not paying for the shit I don't want."
Dealer: "Okay let's meet in the middle. 54k plus tax etc."
me: "54k walking out the door."
Dealer: *le sigh "Bet."
me: "Bet. I'll be there in two hours. Don't sell it."

Didn't say anything about cash or financing. Got there with my check. Declined the extended warranty shit and 30 - maybe 45 -minutes later was on my way home.
