Just need to get another bench unlock, call around the shops in your area that specialize in BMW's and track prepping cars and ask for a recommendation for a shop that can handle bench unlocks. $200 for a local shop vs $500 for a 'known' tuner shop vs the $800 for a remote unlock...
I think it's best to get it done first. Saves you, $200, $400, $800, whatever. No need to do it twice if you don't need to, IMO. Only reason it made sense if you'd already done it, or were factory unlocked unlocked (very early 2020s).

Or if you did a brainfart and flashed back to stock that also relocked the DME.

I have a 2020 made in June of 2019 and I havenโ€™t had the recall done nor have experienced any issues at all with the car. Like none whatsoever.
so I wonโ€™t do the recall

I have my brake service update recall done but didnโ€™t get a full screen apple car play โ˜น
They likely didn't complete the recall. You might still be affected. Somewhere in the 50 page thread there is mention of a way to check the version numbers. I'm sure someone here will perk up with instructions.

Awww yea! The Brake Roulette gang!! Here we are!
Amen brother! If I develop the shakes or lose the ability to push the brake pedal while starting it... then I'll worry about it. Don't use carplay, already have 35K miles on the car, and I will keep it as a permanent project once the OE drivetrain craps the bed... so meh. Also aliens or whatever @Mason is on about.

Went for the recall last week, what I've experienced is no full screen carplay , navigation stopped working, steering gets lighter when driving in normal mode and a lil better in sound system.
