Anyone know why I failed my emmissions inspection? Inspector says it was the battery, but bimmerlink shows 75% charge. Mods: AA catted DP, AWE track exhaust, MHD+ OTS Stage 2 (93 oct). Any help is much appreciated.

Did you clear any codes prior to taking it in? If so, you need to drive the car about 50 or so miles in order for the systems to complete their checks.

It seems your emissions systems like evap, EGR, etc. aren't ready, you'll need to drive it until it's ready. Did you tune out the cat too? It says your cat is not available.

I'm gonna try flashing map0 and running it for 50 miles. Hopefully I'll be good, then.

I live in Texas in an emissions county.
  • Low battery? You'll probably fail.
  • Pulled the battery? You'll definitely fail.
  • Clear codes? You'll definitely fail.
  • O2 CEL or not tuned out? You'll definitely fail.
  • EVAP CEL or not tuned out? You'll definitely fail.

That inspector is an idiot. Failed because of battery LOL.

The reason I see based on the paper (without asking what Mods are on the car) is because you have more then 1 "not ready" status.

You have to drive the car for a few days so that status changes. If you keep flashing tunes you are pretty much "resetting" these sensors in the cars eyes.

I flashed map 0 about 70 miles ago and the cat is still in the "Not avail" status. Any ideas? I have an AA catted DP (400 cel) w/no cel, so i should be good.

Yes, you should be good to go, "not available/ not supported " is not the same as "no ready".

The not ready status is to avoid people from disconnecting the battery right before an inspection to temporarily get rid on the CEL.

You will be fine. As long as all the O2s are installed and working, you have a tune that removes CELs for emissions codes, and you haven't recently reset your battery then you will pass. This works in every Texas emissions county.

I'm good now. Passed. All i did was flash map 0 and drove for about 70 miles total, between 10 or so drive cycles. Just don't clear any codes like i did. If your ecu status looks like mine, then you should pass.

Grats man!
Question, I plan on moving to Texas in 2 years to the McKinney area. How's the emmisions requires there?
.I'm coming from Cali where anything fails emissions

Depends on what county you live in. Some don't have emissions testing anymore. You can Google to find out which county you plan on living in, and their emissions laws. I'm not far from Mckinney, see ya in 2 yrs!! Haha

Thanks. If they don't care about the monitors that show "unavailable" then I doubt you even have to flash map 0, so long as you don't have a CEL.
