And has anybody else noticed that Max is smiling more and being nicer than he has been over the past few years?
I'm thinking that he's not super, uber 100% focused on F1 and only F1. He has the family, not in title contention, and his GT career seems to be getting started. I get it. When I'm at the track I'm overly-focused. This makes me quiet and dismissive. If someone were to judge me based on that, they would assume I'm unfriendly, like Max. I'm actually the complete opposite - I'm otherwise never serious (admittedly, to a fault).

I'm not sure he's much different, I think he's an a-hole at times (to the press).
Fixed :p Other than while answering questions from the media, I've never seen him being anything but cordial, joking around with others, with a smile on his face. He's very private, though, so not a lot of that gets out. Most people only see the "press interview" side, so I can understand thinking that's his entire personality.

You know, I think this is an underrated point. How many people do you know that enjoy talking about work?
Easy to forget, but no matter how much money, prestige, and attention these guys get, this is their job.

I agree completely! I raced sports cars for over 20 years and I paid handsomely for the opportunity! Race entry fees, motels, tow vehicles, motorhome, long hours on the road to tracks and home again... to say nothing of the cost of a good race car and the cost of repairs! These guys get paid millions of dollars to do something that most of them would do for 10% of what they are getting paid. Suck it up and quit complaining, be nice to the fans, sigh autographs. Dude, it's your job! Hell, I still pay $200 for 60 minutes of track time to abuse my own personal car and drive long distances to tracks and spend 1 to 3 nights in a motel. And I just started racing go-karts at Fast Trax, just for the fun of it. And even that costs me about $150/hour!

Today is the big day. Kimi, Max and Lewis start off as 1, 2 & 3. I expect Max to be leading by the end of the first lap... if not the first corner. Kimmi is such a good starter (sarcasm). And I wouldn't be surprised if Kimi crashes himself and maybe somebody else out of the race trying to get back by Max! But I'd rather see a well fought, long, clean race!

#monaco What a crazy race! So many crashes and penalties. Poor Max I felt bad for him. Looks like Hadjar is putting in work and its showing. For Kimi what can I say the kid is one fire. Wish I was as focused and motivated at 19 years old. He’s a champion in the making.

As a random question, is it my imagination or is Gasly a lot better this year?

No kidding! And those crazy pit lane speed penalties really screwed Russel. But then the team did screw up badly by not doing the 5 seconds at the pit stop. This team just doesn't seem to screw up this bad very often.

Is everybody getting ready for Barcelona F1?

I expect Kimi to be right up front again.

How about Red Bull being upset that their ICU was found to be the best and will be used as the baseline. That means Mercedes and Ferrari get one engine upgrade this year and everybody else (except Red Bull) gets two upgrades. So Red Bull is struggling to get up front and yet it has the best internal combustion engine! Honda and Audi will be happy.

Lol. The F1 rule book is so convoluted.

What a weekend for Motorsport

I was busy prepping for my Track Day at Road Atlanta and forgot about Le Mans. Congrats to Toyota!

BTW, I've driven at speed or raced on about 15 different tracks in the eastern half of the US, and the 'up the hill, under the bridge, down hill and turn to the right in 4th gear with the Supra' is about the scariest turn I've ever encountered! I wanted a periscope so I could see over the crest of the hill.

Hey, Toyota, now that that's done, lets get moving on that new Celica. Remember, 400hp, 6 spd manual, all wheel drive and mid-enging (behind the driver)! You know I'm not getting any younger waiting for this. Can we get it out late in 2027 as a 2028 model?
