I repainted my bumper about 3 months ago to fix the license plate holes the previous owner did.... It was pretty good initially, but now at some angles there is a noticeable difference between the hood and the bumper. I know paint could look different on different material surfaces. Can anyone of you tell if the body shop did a good job or not? I paid around $1100 CAD for the repaint. And if you have a Supra with CU Later paint, is there a noticeable difference on bumper and hood out of factory on your car as well?

Ha paint matching. Even brand new cars can have a slight difference in shades between the plastic components and the meatal body panels, very, very common across many brands. It's usually maybe a 1/4 of a shade. When you colour match it's important to do it in natural light and especially not under fluorescent lighting. The miss match can also only be seen in some cases under artificial lighting. I've seen this on std Supras. Look carefully at some Supra images and you can see a slight difference between the hood and front clip depending on the colour and light source.
The direction the paint is layed down also makes a difference esp in any paint with a metallic content.
Last car I had a rear bar painted professionally was on my Monaro in Turismo Blue. I went to the painter and told him I expected him to be able to get the match better than the factory effort which wasn't too bad but still not perfect. He got it spot on.
Yours is noticeable but to 99% of people it would not register with.

Grey color is not easy to color match, especially with metallic paint and different material. Not really noticeable under shade or cloudy weather. Little more noticeable in the shot below with direct sunlight.

I remember some OEM has this problem too, Subaru was one of them. I haven’t notice on the Supra though.

I'm sure you're seeing it right but the bumper actually looks lighter in some of the photos and darker in others. So many variables: Lighting condition, viewing angle, contours of panels.. and the worst one of all; You know it's been repainted. I feel your pain.

I think it only seems a little off in certain lighting. Many cars from factory have bigger color differences between the plastic and metal parts.
I agree. You could take it back and ask them to redo it, but it may be worse the second time.

It's hardly noticeable, best of luck!

Yeah, whoever did the color match sucks at their job. Looks like a Carvana car.. I would get that repainted, it would absolutely bother the hell out of me to the point I would start considering CF hoods and all.. I am aware plastic bits are painted separately from the rest of the metal panels, but when you bought the car, the factory was able to color match a lot better.. so can a capable body shop.
