I had the opportunity to visit BimmerTech in Orlando and have them install their MMI Prime with Android Auto in my Supra the other week. I've seen some other options that added a trunk release button but were less than stock in design/security. I figured if they can add Android Auto to the car, that they should be able to solve the lack of a hatch release button.

They passed along my feedback to their R&D and they do think that they can create a solution. I know I'm all for it, but I'm trying to drum up any interest in this to show them that creating a solution would be worth their time.
So who else would be interested in a trunk release button retrofit if it worked like stock?

There is no lack of a trunk release button. It's right there on your fob. There's no difference between reaching for a button on a bumper, or reaching for it in your pocket. If anything having the button on the fob is more convenient because the trunk will be unlatched before you even get to the car.
