So on my last track day (Dec 28th 2024), car went into limp mode little ways into the lap. It was fixed by restarting but it went limp again. I tried to reflash, delete codes and restart but no luck. Went into limp again after maybe 30s - 1min of time on the track.

Was running 27psi tune, 98RON fuel, 550whp with DAW UltraFlowX. Ambient temp was between 20C-30C. I dont think its an overheating issue. Is it?

Weirdly, driving HARD on the street, doing multiple WOT pulls and I dont run into limp mode or these errors. It was only on the track.

Was getting the following errors:
  • 130716: VANOS, exhaust: control error, camshaft stuck
  • 132301: VANOS: Group error
  • 132101: VANOS: Group error
After reviewing the logs (attached), I found that the exhaust Vanos value was consistantly off the target under high load. In the bellow screenshot, you can also see the limp mode occuring after the last load cycle towards the right.

What do you think? My tuner says its a hardware issue with the Vanos valve but the car is new, only about 13k km on the dash. I have read other threads here which indicate it might be fixed on the tune. What do you think?

Attaching log as Excel file because the forum does not allow CSV files. Here is also a link to the BM3 log directly for easy visualization

Tune fixed it for me. Lowered fuel rail pressure to 4600PSI until 5k RPM, and then 4900PSI after 6rpm. Additionally, we bumped up the oil pressure a bit.

same thing, track only. Could never get it to trigger during canyon or WOT, but mine would always trigger WOT mid turn on track.

some deviation from the exhaust cam target is okay. And your logs will probably not reflect it happening during every pull. The log doesn’t have a lot of WOT in it, but there were certain times you deviated 30-40.

got it, thank you for the insight. I appreciate it. I will tell this to my tuner and get a second tune if I’m not satisfied

Not a Corvette.
You are well below HPFP angle limit in your logs.

IAT is 135F. Very high.

What fuel level? Might have been fuel starve as well.

Also, looks like you got one of those ultra high quality lightning bolt tunes. ;)

fuel level was half on the dash gauge I believe. The tuner I’m with, Sam Performance, is supposed to be one of the best tuners in the region, I’m going to give HTE a shot

do you have any recommendations on tuners?

for IAT, what temp should I start worrying? I’m in Dubai, so we have very hot ambient temps usually so 135f is common in Spring/Summer. It’s winter now and I usually see 85-105f
