So I had my car set so that when I open the door after it was turned off the radio would turn off when my door opened. The other day my wife gets in the car as a passenger and now after that the only time the radio turns off is it her door is opened not mine. How Do I make it so that when my door opens the radio turns off, I cannot figure it out

From what I have observed with mine, if there are 2 occupants in the car, the car will shut down after the second door is opened. Doesn't matter which order it is, but if it senses someone in the passenger seat, then both doors need to be opened. I have tested this by waiting until my wife opens her door then opening mine, and the car shuts down. Basically, it's which door opens second.

This is correct. I don't know anyway to Bimmercode around it either, unfortunately.

I can’t seem to get the right sequence to reset it. What the secret sauce here?

Turn off car, open both doors in any order. The second door to open should kill the infotainment system. Some systems remain on for 6 minutes after this.

Are you saying that the car won't shut down now unless the passenger side door is opened even when there is no passenger in the car?
Oh, no sorry. If there is no passenger it will. ha. Some things stay on for a while, the infotainment should stay off.

* get done driving
* shift to park
* power down engine
* All passengers exit
* Audio/Info should cut now
* Somethings 6 minutes later.

Yeah I was just asking the OP if that were the case because I wasn't sure what we were missing here.

If the infotainment isn't shutting down when the driver door is opened if there is only the driver in the car, then that would be an issue. If it's just that the OP wants things to shut down when opening the driver door regardless of the number of occupants, then oh well, they would just need to make sure to open their door second (that's what I do).

If it is the case that the system is not shutting down when opening the driver door even if there is no passenger, then I would start by unchecking the box in settings that sets that option, do a drive cycle, and re-set that option to see if that clears it.

Sorry - I got people confused. ☹

To be clear, after I turn off the engine, the radio is still on and would cut off the instant the driver side door opened. Now this only happens when the passenger side door opens. Even if there is not a passenger in the car. I’m trying to get the instant shut down back to the drivers side.

i wonder if the sensor in the passenger seat is stuck depressed or something. To the dealer with it!

yup that’s a problem for sure. Seems like the car thinks there’s a passenger even when there isn’t. You should be able to tell as the passenger airbag light would show the status. You might try turning off the feature in settings and turning it back on after a drive cycle but I agree. That’s definitely a dealer issue.
