New update. The tech disassembled the dash and discovered more broken parts, like 5 more broken parts. ?
They are currently on order and should be there tomorrow. Estimated completion date is now Thursday.
Im not sure I can get pictures from the mechanic but I will certainly ask them for a cost breakdown with parts list as if I was a self pay customer.
Will hopefully post soon for reference.
Update.
Well it's Thursday and my car isn't finished. Service advisor informs me they're waiting on 2 more parts. Hmmmmm???
One of the parts is antifreeze which they had to order from BMW to satisfy my other complaint of an empty coolant reservoir.
Looks like I'll be giving another update next week.
Sure do miss her.
Final update.
Car is finished and working perfect! Kudos to Sun Toyota.
They also performed the DCM update and it appears my Start/stop program has held so it remains off. ?
Ive attached a pic of the detailed bill which is what the warranty folks had to pay. My advisor informed me that for a self pay retail customer, the repair would have been over $5k.
PHEW!!!
Ugh, $3k is about what I expected - so much labor to dismantle the dash just to replace a few plastic pieces. This should not only be a warranty issue, but a recall (the faulty temperatures also blow through the defroster, which won't work effectively if it's freezing cold air, obviously).
@Teleguy11 they replaced the entire box and didn’t have to drain/fill ac refrigerant? If so, that is good news for me. I have all the stuff to do it but it’s just an added pain.
Im just happy to put out $0 for this repair. Apparently my instincts were spot on when I purchased this car in July of 2021. This is not a Toyota, it's a BMW and it will break. My $3200 $0 deductable 10 year warranty is now paying off. And I still have until 2031 to collect.
Update on the Start/stop programming, it stopped working so I'll go in and try to program it back to disable. ???
