I found a OBD GPS tracker on my car after two months of power issues.

I looked at my OBD port today and noticed there was already something plugged into it! I took off the plastic panel above the pedals and was able to remove what I think is a cable for a GPS tracker:

...but as you can see, I wasn't able to reach far enough up into the dash to remove the plastic box that houses the tracker, as seen in this picture (highlighted in red):

I thought my best option was to remove the dashboard side panel (circled in red) or unscrew the airbag in the driver's footwell. I may just leave the tracker box up in the dash unless it starts rattling. Does anyone have other suggestions on the best way to be able to reach up into the dash?

I would say the fucker who put it there. Make him remove it.

Helpful post. Apparently the dealer installed LoJack on mine after I found all the paperwork in the glovebox.

Damn damn. I believe there are a few threads on here about pulling apart the dash. From those who drag race and such. Maybe reading over one of those will give you an idea for how to attack it. Personal opinion, save the airbag for a last resort. I don’t trust those things.

If you've ripped out all the wiring, it seems like you could just leave the tracker itself in there? I assume it is just a useless chunk of plastic if there is no power connected to it now.

That's what I was thinking, too. It may be too much of a hassle to get the plastic box out of there at this point.

I am happy to report that I have had Zero power issues since removing the tracker.

Some bozo put it in there, so it shouldn't be too hard to remove. You just gotta figure out the trick to removing the panel(s).

I once had a car with a remote radar detector that was dealer installed. I was actually quite surprised at what a good job they did running the wires all through the car without breaking things. Unfortunately, they did not properly fasten the main wiring module, so it was rattling, requiring me to go after it with some zip ties.

The guys that do this stuff all day know all the tricks.

Depending on where it is in there, you can take that panel you circled off (It just pops off) or take the panel off under the dash behind the airbag (NOT the airbag). That one will def give you access to everything under the dash. Depending on MY, that panel either has two plastic twist fasteners, or metal screws.
