Hey All:

Has anyone installed the Injen evolution intake? The Injen intake box has three pins which are supposed to be seated into the factory grommet locations. I cannot for the life of me get this damn box to sit right. I even tried to test fit the intake box without anything else installed on the car!

I seem to be having issues with the bottom most grommet location, closest to the factory fender air funnel.
The small piece of the intake box seems to be butting up against the funnel piece and preventing me from sitting the pin into the grommet correctly. This damn thing is driving me bananas! I've been at this for about 3 hours. 2 of those fricken hours trying to get this damn box just to fit..

If anyone has installed this intake, and has any advice, I am all ears. My sanity is slowing fading away and I am starting to have "bad" idea run through my head. Thoughts such as shaving the intake down, shaving the funnel on the car, or just taking a baseball bat to the fucker and get a different intake.

A am also a little OCD when it comes to parts fitting, and I am already on edge as my new Aerolux TRD style spoiler has some gaps... OH THE HUMANITY!

anywho.. any help would be greatly appreciated.

That I did. He only mentions to seat the box into the grommets and his looks so fricken easy to put in place.

I had the exact same issue, as the inlet to the airbox was putting what seemed like undue pressure on the inlet snorkel, and keeping it from fully seating. I'm downloading some installation photos I took right now, and we'll see if I can give some more pointers. Give me a few minutes here...

For one, I remember that the asymmetrical frame-rail grommet likes to stay attached to the stock box upon removal, due to the hook-like mounting tab that hangs from the box. So make sure that you have it fully seated and in correct orientation into the frame before installing the INJEN box.

Second, one thing that was very helpful was to lubricate the three grommets with some silicone or grease (SIL-GLYDE is what I use), in the center where the airbox foot pegs insert. That practically eliminates any resistance or binding while seating the box into position.

Third, don't force the inlet mouth into the OE snorkel pipe, as it's just supposed to just kinda sit there. That's what I fought with the most and it kept making the rear of the box pop up and out of the grommet.

Lastly, leave all of the hoseclamps and intake pipe loose until the box is sitting comfortably without tension on it. It's also okay if there's a tiny gap between the snorkel and airbox inlet mouth, or it sits a little higher than laser flush, as air will still take the path of least resistance and charge through the snorkel under full suction. Tighten everything up and you're good to go.

Thanks for the input, I’ll give the grease a shot and report back
