Hi everyone, I'd like to introduce another small project for your A90

The Cupholder Spill Guard - AKA Frappuccino Advanced Protection Device

What is it and why should I care?
Last year, a friend and fellow supra owner came to me mentioning the hardship he was going through after accidentally spilling his frappuccino in his Supra. Most of the spill was contained in the cupholder, unfortunately the cupholder is NOT sealed fully against liquids. To make matters worse, directly under the cupholder is one of the main PTCAN2 termination points in the car which itself is not sealed (see below).

If you are unfamiliar, "PTCAN" refers to Powertrain Canbus, which is essentially the nervous system of the powertrain in the A90 supra. Along with carrying data for the powertrain, this harness also is host to other systems and communication between modules. My friend ended up having numerous issues with the keyless entry system after dousing this termination point which cost quite a bit to fix.

To make sure something like this doesnt happen again, I decided to whip up something quick and easy that most people can install in minutes with minimal tools. Enter, the cupholder spill guard:

The Cupholder Spill Guard is a simple device to catch any extra liquids or divert a spill around the connector. Printing it takes less than an hour and can be printed on essentially any 3D printer. Installing it takes minutes, simply remove the 2 screws found under the removable rubber cup holder tray, use a pry tool or your fingers to pop the cupholder out, and slip the spill guard between the connector and the cupholder. From there, simply reinstall!

If you're interested in downloading the STL and printing it yourself, see the link below:

If you do not have a 3D printer and would like one for yourself, please send me a DM, I'd be happy to print one for you :)

just got mine. I’m thinking about putting some kind of absorbing pad underneath the rubber cup holder cover for extra barrier.

Same. No food or drinks allowed. Also it’s a pain in the azz when you’re in a MT.
