Lots of exciting engines in the 500-600hp range with our displacement or close on factory fueling or injector upgrades only using 93. We’re hamstrung by DI and locked ECUs and it’s hurting the platform, way too many big power wealthy folks normalizing port/meth/800+hp

Not really.. plenty of folks on some kind of ethanol blend making 500+ hp, myself included. Stock fueling and turbo.

There's plenty of excitement to be had with this setup. And peak boost is around the middle of that RPM range you mentioned. You need higher octane for higher power, if you can't/won't use ethanol, that's not really a problem with the platform.

Technically if you bought in to the platform at the very beginning you wouldn't be singing this tune. We all just got unlucky that Bosch upgraded their DMEs a year after the Supra launched. Remember it fucked over all the BMW guys too.
