how was it installing axles? Also build is coming along great!
Installing axles is sort of a bitch. You need to pull half of the sub frame apart, and most of those bolts are torque to yield, so they need to be replaced. You also need a new alignment (or should anyway).

There was some cursing involved, mostly my fault for trying to use 1/2 to 3/8 adapters on the axle bolts or trying to get things lined up on reassembly. A second pair of hands would definitely have reduced that. Most of it was pretty straight forward and not too hard. Axles popped off with a swift tug. Didn't even need my home made axle pulling solution I rigged up in case they didn't.

Access to get full torque on some of the bolts was annoying (at least they were doing it on jack stands in the driveway.) Still worth it compared to what shops wanted to charge. If I had to do it again I'd throw on some spl parts while I had the parts out to avoid having to do it again later.

Damn you Apex wheels group buy for being so tempting.

Now I'm stuck here waiting for June and some nice square 19x11s. Guess I'll pass the time trying to figure out which 305s to go with. (Probably whatever is available)

While waiting on wheels I decided to try this steering wheel cover from Amazon. Just couldn't justify 500 bucks for a new steering wheel. But 55 bucks was worth a shot. 100% removing the wheel would of been a lot easier and my 12 o'clock stripe would be 12 o'clock instead of 12:05. Still have to tuck the fabric in a bit more on the back, it is a real pain getting it tucked in on the back. Doesn't really feel like it has the room.

That looks surprisingly good for basically free.

Agreed. It looks like it adds some much needed thickness to the wheel. For ~$50, it could be worth it to just try and see how it feels/looks in person. Might be a purchase I make soon before ultimately deciding if I want a new wheel or not.

Weekend of autocrossing in Daytona. Bit unlucky the first day and had a damp track, traction was rough. Second day was dry and also upped the angle on the wing. Rear end was loose, stock tires are getting an A for effort though.

Brake pads and maybe rotors are moving up to the top of the list for next upgrades.

Handled a lot better compared to last time (had an alignment since then and aero). Really can't wait to get back out with the new wheels when they get in. New steering wheel cover was much nicer to drive with too.

Ran into a no boost scenario. Was getting a whistling noise on boost. Ecu decided to cut all boost. Oem charge pipe was super loose at the flex joint. Replaced it with an aFe charge pipe. Car was happier but still throwing a few codes. Control rod for ewg was out of spec. Tightened it up a bit and back to being boosted.

Install was straight forward, getting it all to fit where everything would still plug in was a pain. Good news is it does feel very secure.

Wheels came in!

Bad news is only one tire made it in so far.

Hopefully the other 3 that were supposed to be with this one show up soon. Can't wait to see how the car does with 295 square. I wanted to go 305 with rt 660s, but they were back ordered and I found the r888r in 295 for a good price.

More pics to come after mounting.
Next mods, brakes. I keep hearing good things about csg c21/c11 but at that price starting to consider BBK. Maybe something in-between for the time being.
