I was wondering how the cup 2s handle the cold. Can it be driven in 30-40 degree weather? I would like to run cup 2s on my stock rims 305/30/19 should I get a alignment after I put those tires on? And I also heard on cup 2s you’re supposed to run a specific psi but I’m not sure.

I have Cup2s on my Supra, 265/35 up front and 305/30 out back but on wider aftermarket wheels.

I don't really bring it out if it is below ~45 degrees ambient. People will screech that it's extremely dangerous, but I've been caught out a couple times below 40 degrees and it's been totally fine. Just drive conservatively. That said, I would definitely avoid driving if it is close to freezing or if there is any possibility of ice.

They are also ok in light rain provided there is no standing water. Again, drive conservatively.

So, it's not a proper all-season tire but not a deathtrap if you are occasionally using them below 45ish degrees. But if you have to drive every day or are storing your Supra outside, I would not use these through the winter.

Tire specs will tell you the right PSI. I think mine are around 30-35 psi on the street.

I would get an alignment, yes, especially if the car has not had one since you purchased it.

305/30 on a 10" wheel is definitely pushing the absolute limits width wise. Agreed with VA90 on alignment... if you haven't gotten one it probably needs it even with stock sizes.

I think CUP2's are a waste of money for driving on the street. Much better cost/grip ratio tires for street use.

What are you looking to get out of a tire?
Grip levels that are at least equivalent to the factory Michelins for the street. I don’t have a local track, so 200 tread wear is definitely out. 😂 I would personally like to go a bit wider on the factory wheels.

I had Cup 2’s on my corvette Z06 they are horrible as a street tire. It’s a dedicated track tire and if you plan on driving in sun 50 degree weather the car becomes a death trap.

So just a good daily driver tire? Michelin PS4S, Continental ExtremeContact Sport 02.

Even the endurance 200's would be great on the street. Continental ExtremeContact Force, Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar 3, etc

Running Bridgestone RE-71RS on mine. They are an endurance 200TW, really like these so far when it's warm. But it's not my daily now.

I wouldn't put the RE71RS in the endurance category of 200TW, I would put them in the Super200 category, with Yoko A052, Nankang CR-S, and Falken RT600

My understanding from Bridgestone, these were designed for endurance vs the RE-71R.

Is this not the case?

I'm running the RE-71RS and they've been a great multi-purpose street/track tire. I drove 180 miles in a torrential downpour to VIR, ran all weekend and then back home in 40° weather. Treadwear has been great for a 200TW, IMO.

I'm running the Continental ExtremeContact Force on both of my Corvettes. I'm a month out from having track experience with them, but they're a true Endurance 200 which would be another great dual-purpose option.

SC3s are another great option.

They use that word to state that the RE71RS takes longer to overheat compared to the RE71R but they are 100% for sure a Super200 tire still.

Here is a great table to see what tires fall in which bucket:
