Hoping someone can tell me if this wire connector is factory. Seems really oddly placed for a factory ecu piece but I’m not sure what else would be run into an ecu pin like this is.
it’s the bundle connected to the ecu that is closest to the front of the car.
Red connector near my finger

That wire bundle looks tampered with. There should be a wire tie holding it together. The red connector isn’t factory.

Lovely, any ideas what could potentially need to pinned into a factory ecu? I can’t think of anything off the top of my head.

The only aftermarket part I’ve seen close to the ECU is a methanol injection system.

Maybe one of the guys running meth can chime in.

Do you know if this is a factory ground by any chance?

port injection. Pretty sure that car was a pure turbo port injection car at one point. Was it previously owned in Florida?

If I remember correctly yes, first owner had it for like 3 or 4k miles and then the second owner got it and brought it up to 29.6k which is when I bought it.
is there a way to get that shit out of there because I’m wondering if that’s fucking with my stuff in the sense of launch control and this error code that I’ve gotten even though the car drives fine.
The bottom 2 about the radiator I already know is a ghost code from MHD I saw a thread on it but the top 2 are more concerning but no noticeable idle issues etc

yep, that car looks familiar. Most likely that wire might have been tapped for the injector controller. Thinking that wire was just spliced together when the injector controller was removed.

I was looking at the a90 Supra/z4 wiring diagram and I believe there is a wire going there normally so my main concern is if it was aftermarket but as long as it’s supposed to be there and was just spliced into then I’m not as concerned. I’m guessing it was a test car for pure since they haven’t been around that long? Now I’m wondering if I need to check the turbo lmao.
I am curious about that VANOS code though since I haven’t found anything about it on this forum

I get Vanos codes also, only when the car isn’t driven for a few days..

Also is there any way to identify a pure turbo short of pulling the charge piping and looking at the wheel for additional blades. Since it’s a factory frame turbo. This is what I’m looking at and the machining near the vband in the center is definitely interesting but could be factory. I’m more curious about all the marking on the exhaust manifold bolts and the waste gate

It could also be the oil you’re using, I got a Vanos code when I used rotella T6. Switched to 0w-30 and it stopped showing up for me
Do you remember what code you threw?

It was
130716 - VANOS, exhaust: Control fault, camshaft jams
And
13070C - VANOS, exhaust, cold start: not controllable

after I switched back to a 0-30 oil the 13070C never showed up again, only the 130716 code popped up once after not driving for a few days
