If this is a possibility then the person changing the oil should probably leave it to someone more experienced. A torque wrench is the answer if your not sure of the "feel".
I agree that the amount of oil left after draining with one of these items is minimal. Equally important is that you can drain the oil hot since you don't have to touch it. That way most of the contaminants in the oil remains suspended and then are removed in the drain. these oil drain systems are great. I have added them to two porsches, the Supra, a Miata and a Kia. If you change your own oil you will be thankful every time that you put one on.
Phil, I appreciate your comment however there are many instances of owners taking their cars to dealers and later finding their drain plugs loose or stripped. Toyota dealers don't work on many Supras. The pans and the threads are weak and easily damaged. With any of these drains, you simply install it properly once and eliminate a potential point of failure.
Yes the Valvomax drain fits under the cover. I used it on my 22.
Yeah it was but it is a little tight on top of it. My local dealership screwed it up though because they didn't listen to instructions and I ended up swapping to the Votex M12x1.5MM one which is lower profile and never letting them touch the car again.
