Correct me if I’m wrong. But is it correct that the oil in the oil pan gets picked up by the pick up and first goes through the oil filter prior to being distributed to the engine?

I ask, b/c when I last changed my oil I felt the last little bit of hand tightening gave me that sick feeling that I may beginning to strip the threads. I wasn’t ham fisted at all while tightening either. I’m very aware it’s an alum pan. So I’ve been contemplating on the next oil change - assuming it did strip it - to tap the treads to a 13 mm, but only if the oil goes through the filter first.
It appears dropping the pan is a bit of a project.

Oil will always go through the filter first. If it's not setup that way it causes premature failures. Also I would recommend a quality Torque wrench.

I have a snap on wrench but I didn’t use it after reading about people stripping the plug using it and torquing to specs. Not to mention I’ve done 50 or more oil changes in all kind of cars with zero issue. Go figure
