I just took an order for a 2025/MT located about 500 miles away which means I'll be flying out and driving it back. What's the best break in procedure in this case since pretty much all of the 500 miles will be highway?

Thanks!

Wow helpful.

I understand break in procedures require mixed and variable driving, but curious how you over come this given the lack of opportunity, but maybe I should have stated that

Leave the freeway and try some smaller roads for a few minutes. Do as specified in terms of engine load/vary speed/rpm etc. Try a mapping site and pick something worth seeing etc. Its not difficult at all. Your also working the brakes smoothly etc to aid them breaking-in etc etc.

Ah good call, I didn't consider the brakes. I'll keep that in mind

I flew to Columbus Ohio for mine and drove it to Tampa Florida. For the first 5 hours I took backroads. Then on the interstate, just avoid using Cruise Control for extended periods of time. Cycle gear changes.

I drive 90% highway to work, so when I got mine I stayed in the right lane, accelerated slowly in 4th, upshifted to 5th, slowly braked/engine braked and downshifted to 4th, repeat. On the weekends I would just drive around town for the heck of it.

Modern Engine is already "broken in" from factory
Drive it like you would any normal car
Yup. Do a bunch of engine braking and some 30% throttle load pulls to 5k or so on the highway on the way home if you want to be extra safe.

This is basically how I would break in new engine builds on the dyno. Then I would change the oil and let it rip. On a fresh built engine, it's all about making sure the rings seal properly.

People really do go crazy for break in...

Vary RPM by changing gears once in a while and avoir redline, don't need much more...

Most important is changing your oil at the end of the break in period actually.
