I just got done with installing my PTB organic/sintered clutch with standard pressure plate and DMF and I thought I would pass along some info for others.

The instructions tell you to use a press to set the SAC springs but this had already been done which was nice. Be sure to check their position before you mount it up.

You can remove the clutch slave cylinder via 2 13mm bolts if you don't want to mess around with bleeding the hydraulic system. The bolts have medium thread locker on them so they are a little tight.

You will need a set of 3x 18mm bolts and nuts BMW 26117540333, 33326760368 for the driveshaft connection as they are torqued to 41ft lbs and then stretched 90 degrees. If you drop the driveshaft completely you'll need 3x BMW 26118607971 bolts to connect to the diff. with the same 41/+90

The PTB clutch came with new flywheel bolts, release fork and release bearing. The release bearing has 2 positions it can be installed, there was a slip stuffed in the box that said to use the smaller 28.5mm setting, no mention of this in the official instructions, so the shorter setting seems to be right as my clutch is working properly.

Unfortunately PTB didn't include an alignment tool, kind of annoying. I couldn't find any information on which alignment tool we need for this car so I ordered this set from amazon https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09QS77BFT?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1 it has the right tool which measures 56.83mm in length, large diameter is 56.83mm and small diameter is 14.93mm.

Instructions say to turn the engine over by hand to make sure the clutch is working properly after the transmission is mounted, well you will probably need the special BMW crank tool to do this, I didn't bother with it.

Initial impressions are great, pedal pressure is the same as stock, the clutch is not an on or off switch, It begins to engage a little lower to the floor and there is a slight grabbiness in 1st that I think will smooth out after break in. Zero additional noise, vibration or chatter as I went with the dual mass flywheel.

Thanks for sharing this.

Did you weigh the PTB setup against the OEM. It would be nice to know the weight difference.

I did not, they both felt about the same. Heavy. 😂
