Hi all,
This has been driving me mad and I’m getting different answers from everyone I speak to.
I have a lot of oil buildup in the charge pipe and in the air intake system on my Supra. Many say it’s ‘normal’ to have a small amount but I’m talking about a good amount on the under tray (despite only about 2,000 miles since turbo/tuning was done).
Spoken to PureTurbos and they say there is nothing wrong with the turbo itself otherwise the oil leak would be on the ‘back’ side of the turbo, and I’d expect to see the usual smoke out the exhaust if there was a turbo failure.
I’ve attached photos of this issue which hopefully someone can confirm. I’ve heard the talk about crankcase pressure and have installed a Forge oil catch can. Totally useless, pipe running to the top of the engine keeps popping off under load and there’s no oil in the catch can itself.
Switched to heavier 5W-40 oil in hope that will reduce the oil blowby but still no joy.
Please could someone finally help me get to the bottom of this, I’m nervous to drive the car hard with oil getting sucked into the wrong places and excessive oil on the under tray.
Thanks!
