Got mine repaired. $3200 + 900 for the wing.

Diminished value was set at $530 by state farm. Nah. A call or two back and forth and we settled on $3000 dv.

got rear-ended by a motorcycle because of some stupid guy who stopped in the front for no reason. Total repair cost including labor was $19k. even though the damage wasn't much, the labor costs raked up. I got a DV appraiser and got an appraisal for $20k diminished value. But unfortunately, the at-fault party insurance liability limits are less. So I am still waiting on he insurance to see how much they will give me. And the car is still in the shop. expected to get it back by the end of this month.

If it is not totaled, I would suggest getting a DV appraisal and go from there.

How did you go about finding a DV appraiser? Not sure if I should look for a lawyer or just do it myself with an appraisal.

I went with the appraiser suggester by my body shop. Its called st. Lucie appraisal. All they need is the repair estimate and information about any prior repairs on the car and they can prepare an appraisal. You don't need a lawyer just yet. You might need to lawyer up if the insurance company plays hard ball.

Which shop is your car at by the way? I see that you are also in the bay ;)

Ariana auto body in Newark. They said. I should get the car by the end of this month. I hope they don't delay it any further.
My car is at the same shop haha. Fingers crossed we get our cars back soon 🙏

Following, I got rear ended by some guy who had no insurance. Got the police report and I have under/uninsured coverage with State Farm, so I’m curious too how much DV I can get back. Was gonna trade her in at the end of the year when my M3 comes, hoping it didn’t take too big of a hit on the trade in value. Even if it did, hoping DV makes up for it

The diffuser crumpled and the paint below the Supra is messed up, might be dented in slightly too.

From my understanding of DV, ( if I am wrong please do correct me)

DV can be claimed only from the at fault party insurance. So if you have uninsured coverage that will take care of repair costs even if the other driver is at fault. But I don't think you can claim DV from that.

I asked my own insurance and they said since the other person is uninsured and I have uninsured coverage, and that it was the other party’s fault that I could start the DV process once my car is repaired and they get confirmation through the police report that the other party was uninsured. It would have to be transferred to a DV specialist and I assume after it’s all said and done they’d just subrogate the other guy.

Interesting. That's not what I was informed. In my case my at fault party was underinsured so they are just saying that the at fault party is personally liable for the remaining amount and I have to take them to court to recover the damages.

Who are you insured with and which state? I think Texas where I am has a DV clause to make sure you’re made whole

Okay could be a state thing. I'm in California insured with a company called Root.
