I changed my front/rear brake pads a year ago. I was putting on my new right rear brake rotor today and was going to put on my pads in by using needle nose pliers like last time but decided to try the service mode Via BimmerLink and than my (I believe it’s called that) brake caliper piston was on the floor and caliper leaking brake fluid. Need help if I’m SOL and taking to shop or is there a way out of this. TIA

Suppose to use service mode before you start the job

Not a Corvette.
Clean the piston, make sure the caliper part where the piston goes in is clean and the piston seal is still set.

Insert piston back in, reseat dust seal in the groove.

Bleed the brakes.

I checked the rubber seal and it was ripped. I tried putting the piston back in just for the mean while but wouldn’t retract anymore. Electronically it would expand but not retract the caliper

I hope you got this figured out. I just had a question relating to this. At what milage did your iDrive infotainment system notify you to change the rear brake pads? I feel like the fronts would go out first but my car says the rears are due... I'm at 35k miles?

TC eats through rear pads, but in any case, the wear sensor tripped, so you'll have to replace them soon.
