Heard from dealership today. Apparently on some cars, the headlights may turn off for no reason. No further details yet and I can't find anything on the intertubes.

Not surprising. This will not be the last one, stay tuned for more recalls.

Some owners went through hell with this and even filed buy back options

At least there's a fix for this
Actually if you read carefully it indicates that they’re preparing a remedy - so fix is not available yet.

I’m one of the buybacks - approved by Toyota but not completed yet.

8 weeks in shop this Monday. Had it for 2.5 weeks and drove it 355 miles (299 before it broke).

This is concerning. How do they know my 6/14/19 car isn’t affected. Perhaps they changed to a different supplier or changed the code in mid July? I would assume that’s the only way they could specify that date range confidently. Or they used a dartboard. I dunno.

If my car was in the shop for 8 weeks I would blow a gasket

Apparently, they know the Vin range of what vehicle are affected.

Toyota apparently told all their dealerships to roll out the red carpet for supra buyers. Anytime I've needed a loaner even for a few hours, it's been an audi a4 or some other high end used car they have in stock.
