Theyā€™re reliable but a few have noted excessive oil consumption. We still donā€™t know exactly whatā€™s causing it. Some suspect itā€™s the soft break-in for the engine. Thereā€™s a poll in the recall section, you might want to check it out.

As for negotiating tactics it really depends if youā€™re upside down on the trade-in vehicle and if the dealership wants to move inventory.

Supra kind of too new to know how well it will hold up. Time will tell. Being that itā€™s Toyota with BMW it should be pretty good.
As for a deal, you should be able get a deal on the Supra, the trade on the other hand is another story.

stay away from 2021, look for a new discounted 2020ā€™or used 2020. 2021s have already been proven to be problematic and are having their engines replaced at 5k miles.

I have had a 2021 since July. Had very very minimal issues. Biggest thing is my rear view camera didn't work for about 20 minutes. Taken it on 700 mile road trip as part of break in and no oil issues. Then did a 1500 mile road trip right after break in. Plus several smaller 300 mile trips between Portland and Seattle.

How many 2021s do you personally know that are having issues? Plenty of us with 2021s have no issue with oil consumption. It only seems like a worse issue likely because the same people are posting in one single spot.

I have a 2020 model with over 13000 miles on it. It burned about 1 litre of oil around 10000 miles. Which I think is normal for a high-performance turbo engine. Other than that, it's been pretty good! Knock on wood lol.

2021 3.0 Premium. 2,200 hard driven miles from day 1, no oil consumption issues, no issues at all so far. Bought it back in October of 2020 and it's been an amazing car so far.

If itā€™s any help my friend has a 2019 Z4 and says itā€™s the most reliable BMW heā€™s ever had (huge Bimmer guy) already has 38k to 40k miles on it with absolutely no issues. So as far as the hiccup the 21 Supra has, Iā€™m sure it will get fixed eventually for 2022. If you donā€™t want to wait that long, thereā€™s 2020 models like what others will tell you.

Where did you get that deal?
I had offers in that range from 1 dealer in Virginia (where I bought) and 1 in Maryland, and a quote for $50.5K in MD and Wisconsin (long story as well as a long drive).

Whats the dealerships name? I am originally from MD and wouldn't mind visiting some family ;)

DARCARS agreed to match the offer from Koons (Arlington). I was able to get Koons into the high forties by using a quote from CarMax in MD (they sell new Toyotas, but no for much longer) who offered $50.5k on a vehicle that snickered at 56.7. So, I was able to work another (almost) $2k off of that by going back and forth between DARCARS and Koons.
