Brake pad wear warning came up while driving so I replaced the pads and did the bypass but it didn’t work, I then replaced the sensor and it still won’t give me the option to reset the light in diag mode. The option doesn’t even pop up in the menu I read someone else had this same issue but they ended up doing the sensor bypass but that didn’t work for me so I’m completely stuck and don’t want it give the dealership 450 just to look at it. I also checked the new sensor to see if it’s faulty but it tested good and I’m not getting a fault for front pads.

Get BimmerLink and you can force the reset with that. I had to do it on my M550I. The car wouldn‘t let a reset through the dash but BimmerLink could force it through. Its worth trying before spending big money at the dealer.

Do I have to buy a dongle and the app separately?

To use BimmerLink, you’ll need a Bluetooth OBD2 reader and the BimmerLink app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. I think the app is $39.99, but it’s been a while since I installed it, so I could be wrong.

For an OBD2 reader, a lot of Supra owners use the OBDLink MX+, and it works well, but there are cheaper options out there. Amazon can deliver one overnight to our area, so check if that’s an option for you.

Good luck with it!

+1 Bimmerlink is good stuff. There is so much you can code out with it it's well worth the $39 or whatever it was. Fake engine noises, worthless engine auto on/off, etc.

The brake service function is extremely specific with the environment that it needs to be in to allow the reset.

Put the car in diagnostic mode with the transmission in park, disable the parking brake, and then remove your foot from the brake pedal and it should allow you to reset.

You would think and thank you but I tried every single outcome you could recommend this post was my final reach out to find a difference response and it worked as seen in the thread above.

Glad you got it sorted, but I’ve never encountered a scenario where what I just recommended did not work. Everyone who has ever came to me asking for help with this issue said it was resolved by following the steps that I just listed, in that exact order.

i have used the MHD universal with bimmerlink/bimmercode/protool on android and with xhp on iphone.

make sure your apple car play is completely disabled on iphone. otherwise it will keep trying to interrupt the mhd connection.

Good to know, thanks. My MHD wifi adapter is supposed to arrive today.

I have an old MHD adapter for another platform, and Carly adapters as well but they've fallen behind for the newer cars.

yep, having the phone forget the car connection is not enough. need to disable car play from settings menu.
