Anyone here have a Dashbuilt roll bar? I’m considering buying one. Would love to hear your thoughts/experience.
Cheers,
Mike

I have had one for the last two years. I have yet to install it. haha

I can say that Spencer at Dashbuilt was amazing to work with. Real standup guy. There was an issue with the first bar because of some customization I had done and he made right on everything without any fuss.

Bar looks great sitting in my storage room. :)

What are you running to support harnesses?

A proper race seat and harness is on my list for 2026, but I have been leery because there aren't really safe ways to run a harness without a roll bar or cage. I know the Cusco bar is an option, but I am unsure how safe that is.

I've been running the cusco bar. I also know of a couple people that have been in hard crashes on track with the Cusco and it didn't suddenly become a paper straw like most internet people stated it would. It did it's job.

My buddy put his C7 into the wall at Road Atlanta T11 at >100mph and his harness bar survived, so I know they *can* do the job. Although unfortunate, good to know they've been tested.

The Dashbuilt bar was the other safety piece I was looking at it. It's just obviously a lot more modification to the car. But I've been tracking the car for 3 years in excess of 150mph at a couple tracks with nothing but OEM safety + Simpson hybrid HANS so... maybe it's time.

Yea, I think I am finally going to install the roll bar this winter. We'll see if that becomes true. Between the oil pump, trans build and the roll bar, it might be a bit busy.

Here’s the deal (which you’ve probably heard before). A good roll bar is safer than a harness bar. And conversely a harness bar is less safe than a good roll bar because a roll bar provides additional protection in the event of an incident in which the car rolls. My head and neck are worth the extra $2k. That’s a relatively small amount of money in this activity. Accidents do happen. Hopefully you never need a roll bar, but you don’t want to need it and not have it. I’ve been involved in HPDE/racing for over 20 years. I’ve seen serious injuries sustained at HPDE events. I instruct/coach. I always wear my Simpson Hybrid on track when I’m wearing a helmet. I consider safety to be a high priority. This is my $.02. You get to decide what priority you want for your safety.
[Edit - I'm eating my words and getting a harness bar. I am not ready to drill holes in my 300 mile supra. And after speaking with a friend rocket scientist motorsport engineer, I feel better about the strength of the Supra roof.]

Same. I've seen a person literally die in front of me on track. I still rocked the Cusco for 4 seasons as my rollbar sat in my storage room. Sometimes I am also an imperfect human like everyone else. Sometimes.

I do run a bucket, Hans and six point harness though. The incident above had me get a Hans that weekend.

Is it difficult to install? I need to watch the install video (assuming there is one). Good to hear the positive feedback for them. Lucky for me they’re near tracks I go to.

As easy as drilling holes in your chassis. :)

Sorry to hear that. That’s hard… I‘ve seen life flight land at the track and take drivers to the hospital, but so far (thankfully) no fatalities. But certainly life-altering experiences for some of those drivers.

Just watched a good portion of their installation video. I hate drilling holes in new cars. 😭

I thought they were bolt-in roll bars… I am going to reread their site! 🙄
That just means you don't need to weld, but a good bolt in cage is going to have spreader plates and probably require some drilling.

We are all imperfect and inconsistent. 🙃
