Hi all,

I booked my 3.0 Manual for it's break in oil change at RRG Macclesfield.

Read good reviews on google and mrs' facebook Supra group so hopefully worth the hassle going all that way.

Looking to get more experiences/feedback from other GR supra owners who may have used this specific dealer, is it as good as they say?

Any issues anyone had/things to look out for and check after oil changes? (1st time for me)

Thanks all -

Can't comment on servicing, but collecting my new (but used) Supra from them a week on Monday, been great to deal with so far.

It is something that concerns me that the actual service book calls for first oil change at 20k or 2 years! I do have the service package so when it's a year old I may drop them a line to get it sorted...

Cheers Chappers.

Update for anyone interested: after several emails, live chat and phone calls, I managed to get it booked and convinced them that I only want Chris the GR master tech to work on it, and it looks like I made it, I'm a very happy boy now.

They rang me again as they thought I was an idiot booking the car at 1200 miles but I explained (again) it's not a service but a break in oil change and eventually they understood and accepted my apparent insanity.

Now, the bad news is, apparently a one off oil & filter change for anyone interested, was quoted around £337! Where as the service is £315! Lol so I told her well you might as well book it in as a service since I'm paying for it anyway.

Will keep you posted end of next week with how it went.

Sorry but this seems absurd to me. Driving 300 miles and paying that kind of money for an oil change? It costs about $90 for everything you need and can be done in a driveway in less than 30 minutes.

The Supra tech mentioned upthread is awesome. Totally knows his stuff.

The dealership's front of house service team are often confused about Supra service pricing and intervals. The correct price for the proper 1st service at 2 years is ~£600. The ~£300 is correct for an oil change. Whether you want to pay that is up to you. The proper first service is due at 2 years from registration or the CBS "service now" message coming on if earlier.

You may want to, politely, enquire about I-level update to the latest version. It's vague if dealers are supposed to do it or not as part of a service.

337 quid for an oil and filter change! They didn't see you coming, they sent for you, lol.

Sorry if this topic has been done to death before but I am a new Supra owner (3.0 MT) and just collected my car a couple of weeks ago. As far as oil changes were concerend I was just planning to wait until the servcie indicator told me that an oil change was due - currently its telling me July 2024. Is the consensus that an earlier change is a requirement? Or are most adopting the precautionary approach and just thinking that more oil changes must be better?

Thanks for any feedback.

PS: Previous car was an Alpine A110 (hence forum name)

Hi there!
Proud Manual supra owner here too, just approaching 1000 miles.
Let me know how you're getting on with the car I'd love to hear your first thoughts - i.e. do you also find that getting reverse in is quite weird?

Regarding the oil change, correct, weirdly the user manual which specifically says it's for the GR Supra says 2 years.

This is one of those matters of debate on the break-in oil change: to reassure you, your onboard reminder is correct, however some recommend for brand new cars to do an oil change after the break in period which the Supra sets around 1200 miles, this is supposedly so that potentially harmful miniscule metallic shavings which may be dislodged from factory and first few hundred miles are removed early on to avoid going round and round the engine. It's intended for longevity ideally, I would recommend to watch/read some youtube videos and articles from reputable sources like actual car mechanics/tuning/racing companies, not youtubers, and see what you think.

As this is my dream car and I want to keep it long term, to me the ROI cost weighed in as a reasonable investment :)

@All interested:
I had my oil and filter change today after a very long drive at Macclesfield RRG, here's my review:

Hands down best dealership (any car maker) I ever went to.

I parked up the Supra and was happy to see another Yellow Supra inside the dealership to welcome us.

There is plenty of staff inside to greet and the place is clean and all staff are friendly, nice coffee.

The work took about 2 hours, Chris worked on the car and also sent a video of the car inspection via a text link which is super cool to see!

Car feels amazing after that and now just hit 1200 miles on the way back home, so it's run in now and has brand new fresh oil so I can start giving it some more beans, I let it loose on the M1 with a gourgeous black 8 series.

Highly recommend, if it's once a year servicing I'd argue it's worth going here even if far, for peace of mind.

Overall it cost £308 and they also fixed my number plate free of charge (I hadn't asked but they just did it), they used TGMO 0W-20 (oddly not the GR Supra Oil that I have in 1L for top ups).

Sounds good, wonder why they didn't use the GR Supra oil.

Did you see my red Supra? ? Flying down on Monday to collect.

Hi Mate,
Ah wow that's really exciting! No I didn't see a red one sorry :-( there was just a yellow Auto Supra inside the dealership and my Yellow MT.

What are you getting MT or AT?
When we were having coffee with the mrs waiting inside, we were just debating the colors again, as originally I wanted black, but they only had blue and yellow allocations for the manual when I ordered it last summer, so went with yellow, but actually Red was my second choice before Yellow overall!

I hope you have the most exciting collection experience mate, there's some pretty good roads down there we found on the way around the towns of Leek/Rushton on the A543 outside Macclesfield or just edge into the lower Peak District! :headbang:

There is really nothing special about a Supra oil change. Remove drain plug, change oil filter, fill with oil.

Not sure it's worth 300 miles round trip.

The good feedback on Macclesfield RRG useful to hear. Thanks.

My 3 week old MT is now on just under a 1,000 miles and due a good wash to remove the road grime and salt from this week. Looking forward to doing it myself. I don't care if that risks sounding a bit sad :)

As far as servcing is concerned I'm thinking I'll just follow the service indicator and may make the trip to Macclesfield in due course.
