I am weekend detail warrior, please help

I've read various posts in this category but am still unsure what brushes to use,

do the boar's hair brush scratch the finish or am I forced to only use microfibers to clean it alongside soft bristle?

for the wheel wells do I have to use the microfiber ones or are the speed masters going to scratch it as well?

Boar hair brushes are mainly to prevent swirling on painted pieces. You can safely use a more aggressive brush on the factory wheels.

Depends which wheel cleaner you use but most require a rinse with a strong stream to take off the big debris and then you apply the cleaner and let it sit. Then rinse again and the majority should come off. While the cleaner is setting in, I usually hit it with a brush similar to the second one you linked for the spokes/barrel and a stiff bristled brush on the lugs/other areas that the larger brush doesn't get. Finish with a dedicated wheel rag and you're good to go

I don't think its so critical. As my wheels have a ceramic coating, I can almost get away with just spraying on wheel cleaner and then after a beat, rinsing it off. Every few washes I use a dedicated mircofibre wash mitt and then blow dry.. if I have battery left after drying the rest of the car.

i bought my car ceramic coated, not sure if they did the wheels. Thank you for that! I'm just mainly worried about scratching the matte finish as these are my first set of matte rims...

For sure, thank you.. I just overthink things and really don't want to scratch the matte finish.

Just to clarify.. I don't have matte wheels and not sure if they need special treatment. Having said that, if I did have matte wheels, I'd use the same process unless told otherwise. ?

interesting because mine are a pain in the ass to clean they are not satin black or matte they are gloss black but every time i go out they magically turn into matte black from all the brake dust and dust in general. might just go with ceramic coating.

I have the standard gunmetal wheels and before owning this car wasn't a believer of ceramic coatings.. at all. The coating just makes detailing easier - especially keeping the paintwork clean.

The wheels do get a little dirty but the coating along and the colour seems to keep things in check for the most part. And as I said, a spray of wheel cleaner every few washes with a quick wipe brings them up nicely.

There was a thread on this a while back, but it's WoolyWormit all day for me. Great for the barrels and the lug nuts then use your microfiber mit for the faces.

I have mine ceramic coated and it’s very easy to clean the wheels as a result, I don’t even need to use a brush. I would highly recommend it.

For the wheel well I use a similar brush you attached a photo of and they are fine.

might just have to go with the wooly and be safe. rather not scratch and take longer to clean then scratch it..

I use a boars hair detail brush from the detail factory with soap and wheel cleaner and my wheels are ceramic coated.

This is my order of operations when detailing my wheels: quick Spray/rinse with power washer, add soap, Quick brush with the detail brush followed by a spray from the power washer, the sprayed with a wheel cleaner, let sit, then rinsed again. Then dried with a microfiber. No scratches at all. Sounds like a long process but it’s actually pretty quick and the ceramic coating makes it super easy.

Wheels are powder coated, not painted so wheel finishes tend to be more durable than paint.

That diffuser is beautiful. I was looking to get that exact brush but am worried ab scratching the finish; just going to use a microfiber mitt to be super safe at this point, rather take longer and make sure I dont scratch it then use a brush and risk it.... First time actually cleaning rims because my daily I don't even bother
