This guy @LaStar ghosted me after I sent him money via Venmo for a JB4. Luckily I paid for it using goods and services but now I have to wait up to 30 days to get my money back. He refused to respond to any of my messages and even took his profile pic down. Beware

Same guy contacted me & tried to sell me an AWE exhaust (sent photos and everything) but I noticed he was a new member within a month (flag) and also all of his activity on the forum was in 1 day. (flag) I asked to talk on the phone which to me would tell you a lot but he refused (flag) and only wanted to PM. That is a huge RED flag when they won't talk on the phone.

Over the years of having made purchases via forums, this is the first time I have been scammed. It was just a matter of time I guess. He refused to communicate via text message when requested as well. I saw the signs...

That’s terrible news. I always have the seller or I myself when selling is to provide a picture of the tracking number. When I receive photo and tracking info is when l’ll submit payment and payment through a secure organization. Hope you get your money back soon.

Yeah, there was an obvious red flag based on his length of time as a member and the too-good-to-be-true pricing.

I think the forum could do more to bar anyone who has been a member for less than say, 30 days, from being able to post to the classifieds section. Don't other forums do that?

I think this is pretty common, yes, or limiting by post count.

I was pumped at the $1,350 price For his AWE exhaust then clicked his profile and exhaled a large NOPE.

Do.
Your.
Due.
Diligence.
And especially don’t ignore red flags. There’s no foot to stand on if you don’t.

Why the hell do people still do Venmo?
OP in this case is fine. He used Venmo Goods and Services. (PayPal owns Venmo it's the same shit, I also worked for Venmo/PayPal - ask me anything? lol).

Could you answer me this? When i sell something, I prefer to accept Venmo, cash app, paypal F&F, BUT I also leave it to the buyer on what they feel comfortable with, i will only buy with paypal G&S. And this is why, when I worked for a shop (that's actually on this site but was before the Supra came out) we would ship off items they would show dropped off the "customer" would state they didn't receive it. we would lose the money and the "customer" would have his money and most likely the product. If I ship something paid with G&S and they file a claim saying they didn't receive it, I'm screwed right?

With my Mustang stuff, luckily everything worked great, the most expensive part was an Corsa exhaust, and it went smooth, I have 1 last item left (2300$ Mantic clutch) but I don't want to mail it as I'm worried the buyer will just claim it didn't come and I'm out my clutch and the money. Is that how it works for us?
