Removed MST and stock airbox is on

Car IAT goes up to 66C if parked for a long time in 50C weather, after cruising with MST it would go down to 60-61C (Open lid) Stock airbox would go down to 57-58C same speed and conditions. Since torque limit is set at 65C IAT this is a major difference in my case as I'm always near that limit

Believe it or not but my car pulls faster now  With a Pure800 I had slight hesitation at top end, its completely gone now.. Using same exact tune..

This intake is not for hot weather climates, traps more heat esp with the closed lid

Was a bitch finding proper clamps since original Oetiker clamps once opened are trashed

Ordered an HKS for cooler days and will add a heatshield and the CF box later on. Will test that setup and share results

You are right on the money, I've been doing some tests too, just put the lid on last week and I am seeing some loss in power (logging with Ecutek). I will compare now with the stock airbox too.

Thanks for sharing and yeah, at least here in CA the heat is on and yeah, this MST may not be the best for this weather.

Does the box make have a good seal? I saw a picture or two that looked kinda questionable where air may get in from the engine compartment.
None of the
Came here to post about this, glad I came across it I just did some investigating myself with data logs using MHD. Car is catless downpipe, MHD Stg 2 E30 OTS tune. Data speaks for itself, I'm going to eventually add/apply more heat shielding to back of SRD heat shield to try and help as well, maybe to piping too.

These logs were done during a pull on the highway, 3rd-5th in sport mode.

Here is link to SRD Intake.

Here is link to Verus Heatshield, I sent this data to them as well.

Here is SRD Intake installed:

Here is the Verus Heatshield installed:

First I logged with stock airbox. Here is link to whole log, go to third/last log - this was taken on the highway. I attached ambient temps as well. Peak charge temps-312*. Peak IAT 126*.
See below:
Stock Intake - Stg 2 MHD - E30.png

Then I installed the SRD Intake and did a pull as well. Of course ambient temps rose a bit but still huge difference/rise. Here is a link to the log, go to third/last log - also taken on highway. Peak charge temp-370*. Peak IAT-142*.
See below:
SRD Intake Cone - NO Verus Heatshield - Stg 2 E30.png

Lastly, a few days later I installed the Verus Heatshield on turbo. Install was very easy. Here is a link to the log, only made one so the one it loads is correct. Peak charge temp-282*. Peak IAT-115*.
See below:

It looks like you're getting some knock retard starting at time 265.

This is great info. I just ordered a Verus shield. I hadn't really paid attention till now but with the Injen intake installed the turbo is completely visible and naked looking. There appears to be ample room for the Verus.

I just installed the Stock Airbox. I'll wait until 6pm PST to do some pulls again, just to match the same conditions as yesterday and log it. I'll share both logs.

Here is my log from this morning. Ambient was low 80's. My car has Injen Evo airbox, CG Precision catted downpipe, Twisted e50 tune. IAT/chargepipe temps went from 91/203 at start to 127/321 at the end which was 140 mph so a pretty hard pull.

https://datazap.me/u/65sohc/log-1596991995?log=0&data=0-2-3-7-9-10-11-18-21
Wow that E50 tune is running a lot of boost! Also, 91F to 133F IAT at end of run is a STEEP incline

This is me running 2nd to 6th gear

https://datazap.me/u/a90moe/new-revision-3rd-6th?log=0&data=10

Ambient temp: 40C (At night 12AM) :flame:
IAT start: 54C
IAT end: 70C
Temp increase 16C

Mods:
Pure800, 93 octane, CSF heat exchanger, AEM meth 500cc nozzle for cooling (Not tuned on meth), AA catted DP, Forge CP, MST intake (Open lid)

Wow, do you have only the mods listed? Is a lot of boost!

Never mind, your target boost is 22.7 but your actual boost is higher than that. Would yo log the estimated power and torque too?

This was my pull with also E50 tune (Marin), just downpipe and at the time, the MST Intake:

This was at the evening, maybe 19°C ambient temp.

Highest recorded target would be around 22psi or 256kpa in my case (Ecutek reading)

I sent my log to the tuner for review and he made some adjustments.

60-130mph logs - Same ambient temp

Pure800, Akrapovic Exhaust, AA Catted DP, MST intake on 93 octane
IAT start: 39C
IAT end: 61C
+ 22C

https://datazap.me/u/a90moe/log-1598569039?log=0&data=11-28&zoom=182-555

Changes in bold

Pure800, Akrapovic Exhaust, AMS Catless DP, Stock intake, CSF Heat exchanger, Koyorad radiators, AEM methanol on 93 octane
IAT start:41C
IAT end: 51C
+10C

https://datazap.me/u/a90moe/log-1598567713?log=0&data=13-31&zoom=250-418

IAT drop is pretty significant
I'd be interested in knowing how much of that was due to the heat exchanger and radiators alone. Or to put it another way, if the meth-cooling made the largest difference in the change. I certainly understand grouping upgrades to reduce installation time, but that's a bunch at once so it's harder to know what might be the best bang-for-the-buck.

Very impressive regardless... a 12C drop is definitely not small under those conditions.
