Soooo, I have ordered a ATI Super Damper from Titan Motorsports and all the tools needed so I can change it myself.
Might as well upgrade and prevent it from ever happening again.
This is ALWAYS the way people. ALWAYS buy replacement parts that are better than whatever broke. ALWAYS find a way to do the job yourself. NEVER take your car to a dealership. Fuck the warranty.

So I got the old pulley off and the new one from ATI installed. Did it myself on the driveway.

I'm mostly making this post so that people who encounters this same problem can get a search hit.

You will need:
  • A new ATI dampener of course. I got mine from Titan Motorsports.
  • Four new bolts for the dampener, as these bolts are single use only.
    Toyota part number is 90069-31411 or BMW part number 11-23-8-585-220.
    There are also some aftermarket ones you can use. I used Topran 503-682.
  • A longer serpentine belt. 6PK1163 will do. (OEM Stock is 1153)
  • Locking tool for the flywheel/crankshaft. I got mine from AliExpress for less than 30 bucks. I will add a link below.

It's easiest to change it from underneath the car. A lift or Quickjacks will come in handy, but jackstands will work.

  • Start by removing the serpentine belt. You will need a 16mm pipe and a hex allen key to lock the belt tensioner.

  • Remove the undertray for both the engine and the transmission. It's easier to get off the enginetray if you remove the one from the transmission first.

  • Remove the clips from the protection cover on the starter. There are 3 or 4 push tab clips that needs to be removed so you can pull the cover a bit aside. The starter is located right next to the downpipe. You should see two wires coming out from it. A plug and a power cable.

  • Remove the starter. It's fastened with 3 x E10 torx bolts. For one of the bolts, a E10 1/4 pipe will come in handy as it sits in a tight position where a 1/2 pipe won't fit.

  • Install the locking tool to the flywheel. This is to prevent the crankshaft from rotating when removing or tightening the bolts on the pulley.

  • Remove the two brackets on the front sway bar so you can pull it backwards for easier access to the pulley. It can stay on the stabilizer links, so it won't fall down.

  • Use a E12 torx pipe to remove the bolts from the pulley. Be carefull when removing the last bolt, as the pulley will come straigth off and hit you in the face if you not carefull. Ask me how I know...

  • Put on the new ATI super damper, align it properly. I used my phone camera to see if it was aligned or not.
    Add a couple of drops of Loctite 243 (blue) to the new bolts. Torque to 40Nm, then 120 degrees.

  • Voila! Your done. Remove the locking tool and install everything back on.

Hey! Quick question on this: why the longer serpentine belt?

Maybe a Supra GTS 2023 MT, Kia Stonic GT, Mazda CX5 GT SP
Even easier if your car is a manual. No need for the starter removal and flywheel lock just put it in gear with the handbrake on.

Hey! Quick question on this: why the longer serpentine belt?

I may have to buy this dampener myself if my dealer still doesn't budge on investigating my issue (despite having the platinum warranty crap).
I was recommended to use a longer belt when I bought my ATI dampener, so I did.
The longer belt did not feel loose when I slipped it on, it was a tight fit.
I imagine if I reused the oem belt, I would have to pry it on and it would put more stress on the belt tensioner.

I finally got around to getting this installed by my local shop on my 2020 car, but noticed there’s now vibration/unsteadiness from the engine especially when it’s under load in the higher RPMs (~3000-5000 range) so I have a couple follow-ups if you don’t mind.

1. Which part number damper did you get? (I got mine from ATI directly and it was 918573)

2. I assume the recommendation to use a longer pulley belt was from Titan Motorsports? Did they specify the length needed for the new pulley? I used the OEM pulley belt and am wondering/hoping if that’s the cause of the added vibration to the engine, since it’s a much easier fix than having to remove the damper all over again.

3. Lastly, how has the car been since you installed the damper? Did you notice any vibrations or was the issue completely resolved after?

Any help here is appreciated

1. I got the rebranded Titan Motorsport version. From what I understand, it should be identical to #918573 apart from the logo.

2. I got the tip from a workshop that had installed one on a customer’s car. They mentioned that the OEM length belt was a much tighter fit on the ATI damper and that they could barely get it on, so they switched to a belt that’s 10 mm longer. (6PK1163) I bought and used the longer belt and it slipped on just nicely.
So apparently, the ATI damper is slightly larger than the OEM one, but I really have no way to confirm this 100%.

3. I’ve driven about 3,000 miles since installing the new damper. No vibrations, it feels just like it did with the stock damper.

I'm using a belt from Gates. Bought from my local shop. Part number GATES 68378
Goodyear is ĂĄ very reputable brand, at least, here in Europe. It will probably work just fine.
