28100-WAA01 is the only number I come up with for the B58, regardless of transmission.

I would recommend avoiding the aftermarket reman in this application, as value proposition isn't really there. Dealer invoice on new OEM is about $335, so anything under $400 would be a pretty good deal.

Hey, so I actually just had this happen to me fairly recently. Don't know why this happens but it just seems to happen randomly I read 2 other people had this happen one was at 12k miles the other at 26k miles. I had it happen at 50k. Don't know what causes it, but the cause of this is definitely the starter, after much back and forth with my Toyota dealership and with the help of my service advisor I was able to get it warrantied under powertrain warranty which is good till 60k miles or 6 years. After they replaced the starter car worked perfectly. My recommendation is try to push and get it covered under warranty specifically powertrain which like I said runs longer than your basic 3 year/36k miles. You might have to go to multiple dealership till you can find one that'll work with you. But also its not the worst thing to replace your self if you have to go that route. I definitely looked into that if my warranty didn't cover it.

I having the same issue as well. Mine is a 2021 A91 with only 4,500 miles. I been having the starting issue since almost new. I thought was a low battery. I replace the battery year a half ago and also and keep the car with a battery tender; still the issue persist. I never use the auto/stop. It's weird, the issue happen when I use the car for a short trip like 5 miles, after turning off the car and try to turn on again, its started very slowly and sometimes I have to try twice. However, after several time off, basically the engine is cool again, start normally. Any idea what is happening?

That seems to be a heat soak issue. I don't know, off-hand if there is a heat shield near the starter, but I'd take a look to see if there should be one and if it's missing.

Just wanted to chime in here, I thought it had a correlation with heat soak but confirmed it doesn't matter as it happens equally when cold. Had this happen on my '22 just before the 3-year mark, currently at 4,300 miles so mileage is not the issue. Auto-start/stop is not the issue either as I manually turn it off when car is started. Not a battery issue either. It looks like these things go just before the bumper to bumper ends at 3 years, Toyota refused to cover mine under powertrain and sandbagged until 3 yr coverage was over.

Just an FYI to confirm these are the weakest components of the B58 setup, and surprising considering I've never encountered a starter that went out earlier than 8 years of usage (especially with 30 years of working on BMWs). Make sure to get these covered under warranty as soon as you experience the slow cranking before the 3 years are up.
