Yeah I love Cali. We have the some of the best roads (which we pay a sh*t ton in taxes for, which I will not deny), definitely the best weather and scenery, but life is definitely hard for a tuner out here now.

In my experience however, if the mods are modest and your car is not obnoxiously loud, usually you can fly under the radar here. I've certainly never been pulled over in any of my cars for the stock or factory "sport" mode burbles.

But back on topic: @OP I'd go with option #1.

Definitely don't do #3 - try not to give your hard earned money to lawyers... and this is coming from a lawyer.
Surprisingly, this is my first ticket ive ever gotten lol, and ive had quite a few cars in the past that were equal as loud.

@digatron man that sucks. I've lived in and around the Irvine area since 2000 and over the years I've had cars with loud exhausts and have never been ticketed either.

Honestly, sounds like bad place/bad time. Cops were probably itching to get someone at that event.

Sounds like an unlucky quota victim type ordeal. Im pretty good about just cruising and being aware. But, unlucky I guess.

Kinda just want to go the lawyer route since id rather be working / doing other things while it possibly gets settled instead of reverting back stock.

Wait a minute, you got a ticket for loud exhaust? Please explain in detail this law
As it’s stated in Kalifornia, and what happens
To the poor victim and his vehicle. Thanks
PS Victims, er, I mean, motorists need to know!

Every time I read a thread like this I wonder how Harleys get away with their obnoxiously loud exhausts from a 1000cc engine. I routinely hear bikes screaming or pickups with 6" exhausts ripping up the highway near me, but somehow a 3L with straight pipes is the end of society as we know it.

Thankfully up here in Canadian California we don't have too much scrutiny on mods or emissions. Not yet anyhow. I was 3"turbo-back on the Evo and never drew attention. I also wouldn't do it again - the drone was just too much on the highway.

That's lame. I see fucking obnoxiously loud cars at South Coast all the time, but they're higher end exotics and whatnot. I saw a McLaren Senna there a few weeks back, and no way in hell that wouldn't end up in the same boat. Sigh... stock versus not, I guess.
Kevin, the reason is that a coup,e of years ago, the state legislature changed the auto noise ordinance, to make it basically anything goes. The police are essentially not allowed to ticket anyone for noise, no matter h
give it a try and let's roll with it
why?

I left the insulting others thing behind in High School.

it’s kind of like revenge. Doesn’t really accomplish anything.

Digitron, so explain for the rest of us, what happened when the Kalifornia noise cops pulled you over, they just gave you a citation,
And you merrily went on your way? Or……they
Insisted on the” Rack” for punishment?

As a judge once told me, "I ride a Harley". It's 100% subjective, so nothing anyone can do about it. In my town, they were targeting enthusiasts. There's a whole story that I won't bore anyone with. Let's just say all our grief got the city a $1 million grant to battle our "street racing problem".

I've had a bit of experience here:
Officer decides your car is too loud. It's officer discretion, so they do not need to prove it. You get a ticket to have the car tested at the ref. If your car passes (no more than 95dB), you get a certificate and are on your merry way. You can, theoretically, get a ticket on your way home. Rinse repeat. Luckily, not many officers like to harass drivers for an exhaust. It's usually an excuse to *hopefully* bust them for something more significant.
However....
They recently changed the infraction. It is now an automatic fine; not longer is it a "fix it" ticket. The ref signing off on it does not keep you from having to pay the bail amount.
However...
After paying the fine, you STILL need to get a cert from the BAR, showing your car is legal.

so.. the law is the same.. but now they get your money whether the exhaust is legal or not. It's pretty f'ed up.

The entire state isn't bad. Ventura may be, though. I've had very little run in with PD. One was my fault. I love this state, so it's worth it for me.

It's California. with a C. Not a K.
Unless you are a hard-core conservative. They are convinced CA (KA? LOL) is a communist state ? Not necessarily the person you quoted, but in general.
