You got a ref ticket for a noise violation? And you can no longer test for that? Or are you certain you are above the dB limit?
Stock exhaust in sport alone is barely passing, my setup is probably 120+ and in sport downshifting is probably gun shot decibels. Although I’ve turned off burbles.

Sorry, fellow southern Californian... It's probably best to just take the modifications off. I don't remember what the ramifications are if you put them back on and get another hit, but seems like it may be a risk not worth taking. At least you still have the car at the end of the day this way.

Not sure where you are at, but local PD has been pretty good with the cars around here. I haven't seen any modified ones yet, though, so who knows.

Normally I’m pretty good at avoiding certain areas but I got unlucky at south coast plaza. I’m still going to put the mods back on eventually and just turn off cold start, since this car is just my track car and sits mostly in the garage unless track season or I’m randomly feeling like taking it out. I’m in Irvine area.

That's lame. I see fucking obnoxiously loud cars at South Coast all the time, but they're higher end exotics and whatnot. I saw a McLaren Senna there a few weeks back, and no way in hell that wouldn't end up in the same boat. Sigh... stock versus not, I guess.

I got pulled over by SB county sheriff for having flame burbles, like they were gun shot loud.

I shit you not, he gave me a warning and told me to keep the car in “non sport” mode around other officers, as they wouldn’t be as nice.

but I deserved that as the burbles were way too loud.

now that rant is over, go back to stock and take it in to the ref.

Not sure how you vote. With that said, go back to stock. It’s what 50+1% (or more) demand.
Bonus: apply that reality to your state income tax, property tax, state constitution, approved propositions within the last 10 years, etc…

Im sure you and fam can live large in another state making less money but enjoying more freedom.

edit: its a lose lose situation dude. If it makes you feel any better, the fed will be coming down on us all soon enough.

It was probably because I was there the day Toyo tires had their shutter space event and a few cops were parked and on watch. But all I did was cold start lol

Still is, for all those reasons. Cars have nothing to so with any of that.

CA used to be the hot rod capital. Now you're reprimanded for building anything newer than anything built after late 70s/early80s.

OP: You used to be able to just have a dB test at the ref and have the ticket signed off. I think they have changed it to a non-fix-it ticket. Can anyone confirm? If not, swap the exhaust and make a ref appointment. Or maybe leave it in Normal mode....?
Either way, you can pay the bail amount up to two times and leave the car alone. On the third offense, you have to have it fixed.

To everyone else: I'm kinda not surprised... A black MKV drove by me the other day and must have been straight-piped. The thing was fucking annoyingly loud and sounded like it had firecrackers in the exhaust. I'm down for people like that getting tickets LOL.

P.S. I have a '69 Charger that is plenty loud. I never get a second look.

Yeah I could but problem is I own a house here and don’t want to relocate since I have a good job with good benefits and really good pto and perks

It’s correctable but still have to go to the ref.

although I’m straight piped, literally just cold started to get a ticket didn’t even leave the lot. I was gonna turn off my cold start anyway ?. Anyhow, gonna go back to stock exhaust and leave the dp in the future but I wanted to save the extra 40lbs from the exhaust cus every pound counts on the track even tho I’m slow ?
