Still waiting... How long have you been waiting for your GR Supra allocation/order/update etc.?

bad news... my dealership called me and told me the Supra was damaged during transport. It was bad enough to where Toyota can't/won't fix it. they're sending in a replacement for it but now saying it'll be another 2-3 months.

normally I wouldn't care too much but I sold my car last week... fml

I wonder if this is some bullshit and they sold the car out from under you…
How exactly does a car get that damaged…

Surprisingly common. Most of the MY23 A91s coming to Michigan were damaged and also never repaired.

Pulled out of all deposits and lists. Everyone is asking 5-10k adm with no intentions of budging. Have a G87 on order with a VIN, no markups. Will take two months from assembly to getting shipped. Should expect a nice toy in August.

Alright yall, I found a supra with exact specs + some other bs but nothing over msrp. 1k more than the one I was supposed to get this week (because of factory packages - stupid cf mirror caps). It's in ATL and I'm having it shipped here to kc. Didn't make sense for me to go there and pick it up with flight + potential hotel prices. On top of missing work, I'd be saving 400 at best for a 13 hr drive.

I'm obviously worried about the shipping process because of what already happened. It's going to be in their hands again. Any advice for buying online + shipping process before I finish the application? It's brand new so I don't think I need to get it inspected. The dealership has over 4.6 stars with 5k reviews. Any advice appreciated.

I'll add my timeline to the mix. Dealer learned about their allocation at the end of February, we had a deal on paper a few weeks after that. Three months and a few days and the car is landed and ready for pickup. Time of expression of interest to delivery date, just over ninety days. CU Later 6MT. MSRP.

I’d be surprised if anyone is paying above msrp right now. With interest rates at 22 year highs, it has got to be harder for stealerships to move cars.

I’ve shipped several of my vehicles across the country to California the last 7 years and dealt with the transportation service providers. Ask me anything. I was shipping my cars across the country way before Covid. My most recent one was my MY2023 MKV. What I always have the rep or manager do is take a quick video or do a FaceTime while they walk around the car before the truck guy picks it up and sometimes ask for photos as they are loading it. As far as transportation I have a good and well priced transportation provider I can connect you with. Don’t make the mistake of starting to google and dial the providers you find at the top of the google results. Once you’ve shipped before, you have your go to company. The other ones online are a 3rd party so they basically are charging you a middle man fee which you can avoid by going direct. Those big 3rd party companies won’t share the contact info of the truck driver or fleet unless you already paid. Worse time to ship is mid winter because of all the crazy weather across the country. As far as open or enclosed container, save yourself the money and do open. As far as top or bottom, I’ve done both and the top is cheaper and same. Bottom is for paranoid folks who can’t afford an enclosed container, but think the bottom protects them from any rain or elements. Enjoy your car. It’s a blast man.

I’ve done it both ways. The transport company should have insurance. The one I used has their own drivers. But they outsource if too busy or you are in a hurry. They call or text with updates. The last thing they want is waiting on a customer that is there to take possession of the car. I used closed for my 1st Supra, open with the 2nd. I’ll do open for now on and save $500. You pay for your comfort level, risk tolerance and speed of delivery. A bunch of cars recently sunk during transport in the ocean. Anything can happen. You are right.

1) $500 is for peace of mind. If you have an extra $500 to throw at this and sleep tight at night, go ahead. I’ve shipped several cars and even during “historic” ice storms like the ones we had the last 5 years across the county I never had any issues.

2)The Toyota dealership I got my MKV from in Virginia connected me with their preferred guy and he was not cheaper. I’ve been in mortgage lending since I was 19 years old and now 39 year old so I a have a lot of clients who do all kinds of work and businesses. I reached out to a recent client of mine who owns an auto transportation business who gave me numbers to call and compare. I found it cheaper than the Toyota preferred guy. I paid $900 across the country in a week the Toyota preferred guy was quoting me $1,500. To each their own.

3) Not like using Uber or tracking it on some app, but I did have the driver’s phone number and his dispatch who always answered. It’s like anything, after you do it a few times you think about it less and stress less. My biggest issue was finding where the driver could meet me because the first thing I wanted done on the car straight from the dealership was PPF and ceramic so I had him drop it off at a detail shop I settle on. While he was waiting for me to arrive to lower the car from the top of the trailer, he had called and message other guys who had also order their cars across the country. A couple Mustang guys and a Range Rover client and a few other high end cars I that I barely remember.

4) As mentioned by @FLtrackdays, the carrier has some insurance as well. Just get it insurance once it arrives with your carrier. It’s honestly one of the best feelings get a vehicle shipped that you wanted. If you are a car guy, it never gets old. I don’t like them dropping it off or near my house so I usually meet them at a yard or in the case of my MKV, the detail shop was further away from me in a industrial part of town which made it easier for the driver to post up rather than some neighborhood.

It’s an excellent car and honestly, the most misunderstood car in automotive history by Toyota purists and online trolls who would have never purchased it to begin with or would have complained about how expensive it was if Toyota built it all in house. My previous car was a BMW 330i, I actually like the fact that it's part bmw ? the interior feels very familiar to me compared to something like the gr86, i would not enjoy that interior haha. Thank you very much!

I actually think mines too quiet...Even on cold start/sport mode. But ive owned some really loud cars so maybe im biased lol. I was surprised how tamed the exhaust was after hearing it on videos.

oh yeah it's definitely just me not being used to loud cars, my last car was a 330i so i'm not used to all these pops and gurgles from my new car ahaha. would love to roll down the windows and hear it but the tint is new so will need another day or two probably

edit: 4th day of ownership, i think he was right. it's not loud enough ? that needs to be fixed
