Recently I noticed a video that shows a smaller number to the right of the larger “current” gear display. Took a look in the manual and it seems to be a suggestion of which gear it should be in for the best efficiency. I’ve never seen this on mine. Is this something I would need to turn on? Photo for example.

I'm pretty sure I've never seen it either... however, to be fair, when I'm in manual mode and running it out all the way... I'm just paying attention to the road - so the gauges could be showing just about anything and I'd be clueless. :D

Since the speed in the picture is in km/h - maybe this is only an active option on non-US market models. I'd think if that's the case there would be a way to code it, but I'm not aware of the specific switch to adjust with Bimmercode.

Strange that you guys never saw it. I always see it on my Supra. Although I'm in EU so maybe that's Greta that has sneaked in and coded that into the ECU?

I also live in the EU and it always pops-up in any manual mode.

Really weird that you guys don't see that... It would benefit any Supra driver as it will lower fuel consumption.

I haven't seen this, but it would definitely be something I would want to have coded into the car if possible. Something related to bimmercode?

Never seen that in my 2021 in the US, and I’m always in manual mode

Yeah the km/h and rear fog indicator on the cluster lead me to believe this is probably on Euro models only.

It could probably be coded on with Bimmercode if you wanted to dig into expert mode and try to figure it out.

Yes European models all have that.

I think it is even 'mandatory', as all other EU cars (not only BMW) have these suggestions in manual mode (auto or manual gearbox, does not matter).

We have those 'suggested gear' already since a long long time :)
(again, not talking about supra's, but cars in general)

I guess I reflect the expectations of the US market then... when I'm in manual mode, fuel efficiency is pretty much the very last thing on my mind. I just use auto and comfort if it's a long cruise.
