So I installed some lowering springs today at a shop and I ended up weighing my stock wheels/tires.

Front was 49lbs
Rear was 52 lbs

Now the tires weigh 24lbs Front and 27 lbs Rear per Tire Rack so that means the cast 18x9/10 wheels are around 25lbs front and rear using basic math. I'll also be measuring them Monday with no tires to clarify.

I would be totally interested in losing some unsprung weight but my concern with a lighter wheel would be durability.

The wheels I'm getting is a flow formed 22lb 18x9.5/10.5 wheels. Our stocks are regular cast and I'm sticking with stock tires with the thicker sidewall for better protection.

So I realized that the wheels are much heavier than I measured with the tires. I recently bought some 22lb wheels that came in box of 2 where FedEx measured the weight as 55lbs a box(110lbs for 4 wheels(88) and heavy boxes(22)). I decided to hold on to all of these heavy boxes and put my stock 18" in them since it's hard to measure the weight of the wheels with my scale. I was surprised to see the scale jump from 55lbs a box with my new wheels to 67lbs in the same box taped up. That's 12 lbs heavier per box which adds up to 24 lbs more (134lbs). This would mean the stocks weigh 28lbs for all 4 with 22 lbs of measured weight boxes I put them in.

Any weight difference between fronts vs rears since they are different width (18x9 vs 18x10)? :)
So 28lbs are fronts or rears?
Very appreciate the info!

Yeah it's weird to me but the same thing applies to my wheels I bought. They were both 22lbs 18x9.5/10.5 et22 on both

How :D Fronts are 1" narrower than back, there must be a weight difference. 3.0 19's are 24lbs front + 25.3 lbs rear. Not big but still a difference. I'd assume here may be bigger since 18's are cast.

I have no idea of the witchcraft. It woud make sense if one of my wheels is 21/23 instead of 22/22. Maybe its 21.5/22.5 for my new wheels and 27.5/28.5 for our cast stocks. I need a digital scale to see minute differences I suppose

How much do the stock wheels weigh with the tires on them inflated? Yes, air actually does have mass. So it's important to weight the wheels mounted and inflated.
