Hey everyone, I’m looking at a 2020 Toyota Supra GR that seems pretty solid but has 104k miles, so I want some honest input before I move forward. Here’s the full info from the seller:

2020 Toyota Supra GR (3.0 Premium)
Clean title / Clean Carfax
104k miles

New OEM transmission installed under warranty

Car was previously featured in a Sonic203 giveaway. Seller says it’s been well cared for, presents like a lower-mileage example, and has a few cosmetic/performance mods.

Mods:
  • 19” Volk TE37 w/ Falken RT660
  • Eibach lowering springs
  • Aftermarket downpipe (catless)
  • MST intake
  • IND wheel stud conversion
  • Carbon fiber mirror caps
  • Carbon fiber front lip
  • Carbon fiber side skirts
  • Seibon carbon rear diffuser
  • Seibon carbon spoiler (paint matched)

Just looking for honest feedback from people who know these cars better than I do before I schedule a PPI. Thanks!

Its might go another 50K miles or just 50 miles. That’s the risk with high mileage sports cars.

Why was the transmission replaced? At that mileage I'd want to know if the oil pump has been replaced yet as well. The only "value add" I'd say on those mods is ~$1.5-2k for the wheels.

I found the listing and it's being sold at $35,800. Here's a visor.vin search for you to compare prices. I would try and snag a 2022 that has lower miles than that personally but if that's on the max end of your budget, it could be an okay buy if you can service stuff yourself. Chances are it's due for trans fluid change, diff fluid, and other general high mileage maintenance that has likely been deferred. If oil pump hasn't been replaced, that's a $3500 repair at a shop.

Maybe it’s just me, but I personally wouldn’t buy a high-mileage sports car that’s still being sold new at dealerships. You can find them pretty much anywhere right now, so there’s no reason to settle for one with a ton of miles. The main issue is you never really know how the previous owner drove it. Some people beat on their cars, while others treat them like garage queens. In this case, it’s pretty clear the owner daily-drove it.

I’ve also seen a YouTuber with a big-turbo Supra nearing 100k miles, and he says it’s been great to him—but he also takes really good care of his car.

I think there are much worse cars being bought at $33,000. If you can afford the maintenance, go for it.
