Have a 2020 GR, DOM November 2019. Haven't had most of the problems a few people have reported. No loose caboose or handling problems. Tiny bit of oversteer went away with a set of PS 4S tires, and brake fade went with some Hawk pads up front. Car handles exceptionally well. On the track I do well until a long straight comes up, then I watch the vettes, cameros, mustang GTs, AMGs etc go by. I'm going to put the Burger JB4 with EWG and Flex fuel on in next couple of weeks to see if I can remedy some of the straight away problem. In watching various youtube videos on C8, some people reported significant understeer, others thought it was fine and mentioned factory "track" alignment. I don't know if that's a real thing, but, if so, could it apply to some of the various impressions of the Supra?
BTW, saw a video of track event where they put 10 cars from least powerful to most powerful on a good race track and started with the lowest HP car in front, a Supra! It stayed in front for most of the course until they hit the long straight!!
Final thought - I like to push on the track and this car, with maybe another 80-90 hp, is all I want. My buddies C7 Z06 scares the heck out of me. I could see myself hitting 170's on long straight and curve 1 at BIR and killing myself! I'll leave that to the pros (speed and dying thing).

Unfortunately there will always be something/someone faster...
The trick is to pull a gap in the back half of the coarse so the faster cars can't get ya on the straights...

I think the car as is already over powers the rear wheels so another 100hp would be alittle harder to manage..

As far as alignment..think it takes a few grand in parts in order to get to a street/ track alignment...

Good luck in your venture in making your car faster in a straight line?

You brake hard in a straight line, accelerate in a straight line if you want to keep going in a straight line in any high performance car.

We got the wrong car is you think you will dump a C7 or C8. 6 Cylinders just cannot compete with tuned V8's or more.

The "factory alignment" thing with Corvettes is absolutely true. I don't know about the C8, but previous models got delivered with positive camber to induce understeer. It's for safety reasons. They rather have you crashing and hitting something straight on, than spinning out of control with oversteer.
First thing autocross and track Corvettes did was dial in negative camber up front. Free performance.

And? Every car on this forum is "custom" in one way or another. Stock it's slower too.

Anything else? How about a flat 6 instead. Would you like me to add a few flat 6 Porsche's that are quicker stock?

For the track I've always been a handling person over straight line speed (at least in video games). We will test this out on June 01 in person though at my first track day. My thought is like others have said, there will always be someone faster, more experienced, and someone more lucky than you are. I'm excited to learn how to drive this supra and to see if it changes my my mind about what mods I want to do.

On a different note...

I remember when the GTRs came out in 2008/2009ish they were hovering around an MSRP of $75k I think. Now they are like $100k new compared to the supra at a max of $60k.

I personally hate it when someone tries to compare an AWD car that is over $30k more new than the competition and are "shocked" when they don't perform the same. In my opinion it's kind of like saying "My G-wagon is so much better than my Jeep wrangler." The GTR is a borderline super car depending on who you talk with. The supra definitely is not even in that conversation.

Then comes C8 :)
Well engine/trans/weight/etc.. they all play a role. Obviously there are 2000hp cars that perform worse in 0-60 or track than 1200hp cars.. So, hp/engine/etc. on paper also is not just apples to apples... even at supercar or super tuned vehicles...
Get a car you like and enjoy..

You cannot compare modified cars to stock cars. Two different leagues. The Supra is more fun to drive than a C7 Corvette. That I can tell you from having just sold my 17 C7 Stingray.(stock) And my 21 Supra is every bit as fast.
