Was getting a service done as well as a few other things this morning at my local toyota dealer. When I asked about putting in 5w-30 oil they said they won’t do it and will only put in Toyota’s recommendation. Anyone else run into this problem?

I’m not surprised the owners manual is very specific about what type of oil to use. They probably don’t want to risk a warranty denial from Corporate if something happens.

From my 28k miles experience I've gotta noticeably better mileage, calmer idling, smoother performance in general with a 5W30. 0W seems to fall no the thin side and might be better for light drivers especially that won't push it often but it's my daily and I enjoy marrying the pedal to the floor in a pretty hot climate so 5W it is.
